Li Xinmin, known as a mathematician, was from Leiyang. Li, called Shen Ming, who graduated from National Central University, and pursued further study in America, obtained his graduate degree of science in Northwest University and doctor's degree of philosophy in Cornell University. He took on posts in turn as the associate professor and later the professor and dean of the mathematics department in National Taiwan Normal University. He also served as the director of the institute of mathematics, dean of the mathematics department, and director of the mathematics research center in National Tsing hua University, and the dean of the science college and president of National Central University, and the researcher of Academia Sinica. Li was also the director of China Association for Promotion of Natural Science and Mathematical Society of Republic of China, and the member of the 13th appraisal committee of kuomingtang. |
