On June 17, the city’s Monthly Review Meeting on High-Quality Economic Development was convened. Zhu Jian stressed that the city must thoroughly implement the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee as well as the work requirements of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People’s Government, shoulder the responsibility of a major economic city to take the lead, adhere to the general working tone of seeking progress while maintaining stability, accelerate key tasks, and strive to fulfill half-year targets in both time and tasks. Liu Zhongjie, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, presided over the meeting and briefed participants on the city’s economic performance from January to May.

Zhu Jian pointed out that Hengyang’s economy is generally advancing amid stability and improving in quality. Major economic indicators have maintained an upward momentum. All counties, urban districts and industrial parks have ramped up investment promotion, project advancement and enterprise services, fully demonstrating the mission of Hengyang as a sub-central city of Hunan Province.

Zhu Jian emphasized the need to boost confidence, build on strengths and shore up weaknesses to play a leading role in the province’s economic growth in the first half of the year. Authorities shall scientifically analyze the economic situation and development targets, set reasonable growth expectations based on local realities, deliver all economic tasks for the first half of the year with solid work and tangible results, and fuel high-quality development across the province. It is critical to properly pace all work, consolidate industrial foundations, coordinate core tasks including expanding fiscal revenue, cultivating and registering industrial enterprises above designated size, and carrying out the "Deliver Policies, Solve Problems, Optimize Services" campaign for enterprises, so as to continuously energize market entities and consolidate the underpinnings of economic growth.

Liu Zhongjie required authorities to balance development and security and strengthen development momentum. Officials should step up professional learning and earnestly deliver sound outcomes in two key economic work areas: daily economic operation and comprehensive development. All departments must stay focused on targets, enforce implementation, sprint to hit the half-year milestones, and lay a solid foundation for steady economic performance throughout the year.
