Hengyang News Network, Reporter Wang Qianwen – On the afternoon of August 12, Zhu Jian, Secretary of the Hengyang Municipal Party Committee, made a special research visit to Hengyang Preschool Normal College on its transformation.He stressed that the city must seize this historic opportunity, boost confidence and determination, accelerate the college’s transformation with urgency and a pragmatic approach, and ensure that this transformation serves the needs of industrial development.

Zhu Jian first inspected the construction of the Intelligent Manufacturing Training Room at the college and observed the phased results achieved by leveraging the training room to promote deep integration of teaching and practical training. He pointed out that the training room, as a key carrier of vocational education, should be fully utilised to drive the deep integration of teaching and practical training and the seamless connection between the school and enterprises, forming a virtuous cycle in which industry nurtures training, training promotes teaching, and industry and education are integrated.

At a subsequent symposium, Zhu Jian listened to a report on the college’s transformation and affirmed its previous work. He noted that the college had done a great deal of solid and effective work and had found a practical and feasible transformation path, laying a firm foundation for its comprehensive transformation.

Zhu Jian emphasised that the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government firmly support the transformation of Hengyang Preschool Normal College into “Hengyang Vocational and Technical College of Metrology.” He called for further refining and optimising the transformation plan, determining an appropriate enrolment scale, matching the corresponding physical space, and improving the campus planning scheme; scientifically setting up majors in line with the transformation requirements and the needs of the intelligent weighing instrument and metrology industry; strengthening the teaching staff by “recruiting a group, training and upgrading a group, and flexibly introducing a group” to promptly address the shortage of specialised teachers, while also hiring senior enterprise engineers to supplement the faculty; and focusing on the modern employment system, with high-quality full employment as the orientation, and vigorously promoting “order-based” training.

Zhu Jian stressed that key tasks must be implemented in detail, with a clear transformation timetable and clear division of responsibilities to advance the work step by step. Efforts should be made to include the college’s renaming in Hunan Province’s “15th Five-Year Plan” for the establishment of higher education institutions, and the college should be administered scientifically in light of enrolment and graduate employment data to ensure the transformation proceeds smoothly and orderly. He also urged wholehearted support for the transformation: inviting experts and leading officials from the National Institute of Metrology, China Jiliang University, and the Provincial Department of Education to provide guidance and diagnosis; coordinating resources from the Hengyang Intelligent Weighing Instrument and Metrology Industrial Park and other forces to strengthen support; and swiftly resolving lingering issues such as planning adjustments, demolition, and the construction of dead-end roads, so as to remove obstacles to the college’s transformation.
