Transportation in Hengyang
From:衡阳党政门户网 | Date Add in:2025-05-09 16:58:39 [A  A]

Located in central-southern Hunan Province, Hengyang enjoys superior geographical positioning and convenient transportation. Recognized as one of China's 45 national highway hubs and 179 road transport hubs, it was designated a National Dry Port Logistics Hub City in 2018. A three-dimensional transportation is rapidly developing, anchored by Nanyue Airport, the Xiangjiang River Golden Waterway, 8 expressways, and 9 railway lines. Aviation: Nanyue Airport serves 31 direct flight destinations, ranking as Hunan's third-largest airport and a key regional air hub in central-south China. Railways: Operational rail lines span 610 km across six routes – Beijing-Guangzhou, Hunan-Guangxi, Wuhan-Guangzhou High-Speed, Hunan-Guangxi Double-Track, Hengyang-Chaling-Ji'an, and Huaihua-Shaoyang-Hengyang – giving the city the longest operational rail mileage in Hunan. Three additional lines (including Heng Zhang An Railway) are planned. Highways: The city maintains 21,081 km of traffic mileage (4th provincially by density:138 km/100 km²). Its backbone network follows an "8-5-18" framework: 8 expressways, 5 national highways, and 18 provincial highways. Waterways: Five navigable rivers (Xiangjiang, Leishui, Zhengshui, Chongling, Mishui) provide 769 km of navigable length (7th provincially), including 154 km meeting Class II navigation standards (2nd provincially). Station Yard: The transportation infrastructure comprises 117 bus terminals and 2,531 rural pickup stations, ensuring every county has at least one Class II terminal and 100% administrative village coverage by scheduled bus services.
