On the morning of January 14, 2025, the Third Session of the 14th Hunan Provincial People's Congress opened in Changsha. It is reported that this year’s Provincial Government Work Report proposed to focus on expanding investment in industrial development. In 2025, efforts will prioritize the construction of the "Ten Industrial Projects," including the Hengyang Green Salt-Alkali Industrial Base.

These "ten industrial projects" are: Yueyang Ethylene Refining-chemical integration, Shaohong Substrate Glass, Hengyang Green Salt-Alkali Industrial Base, New Energy Power and Energy Storage Industrial Base, Hisense Changsha Integrated Production Base, Advanced Steel Material Product Structure Upgrade, Changsha Yuhu Cold Chain Trading Center, Zhuzhou Medium-Low Voltage Power Device Industrialization, HKC Changsha Direct Display Module and Complete Machine, Semiconductor Xiangtan Intelligent Manufacturing Base.

Among them, the Hengyang Green Salt-Alkali Industrial Base project is a key project to strengthen the salt-chemical industry chain in our province and promote the formation of the "Petrochemical North, Salt-Chemical South" pattern within the province. With a total investment of 10.19 billion yuan and covering an area of 1234.5 acres(approximately 82.3 hectares), the project is poised to become the leading soda ash producer in South China upon completion. It is expected to generate annual revenue of 5 billion yuan and create 4,000 local jobs. The project will drive upstream and downstream industrial extensions in Hengyang and surrounding areas, contributing to a 100-billion-yuan salt-chemical cluster in Hunan. Its cogeneration project mainly involves the construction of three 350 ton/hour coal-fired boilers, a 20 MW steam turbine, a 25 MW generator, and supporting utilities. The first unit is expected to commence operation by the end of 2025.

In addition, Hengyang Steel Group is also involved in the Advanced Steel Material Product Structure Upgrade project.
