On the morning of November 16 at the 25th Central China Agricultural Expo, the Hunan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs hosted an agricultural investment promotion conference. During the event, Hengyang presented livestock industry development plans to attract investments and signed an agricultural cooperation project valued at RMB50 million . As a pillar of Hengyang's agriculture,livestock sector accounts for 39.1% of the city's total agricultural output value. Large-scale leading breeding enterprises have become the mainstay of Hengyang's hog industry, with 232 farms and feed production facilities established through diverse models including new breeding farms, leased sites, joint-stock cooperation, and "company + farmer" cooperatives. The sector has attracted total investments of RMB10.2 billion, adding over 10 million hogs to annual production capacity. Hengyang currently operates 5 commercial hog farms with annual outputs exceeding 100,000 heads and 267 large-scale farms producing over 10,000 heads annually, collectively constituting 81.56% of the city's total hog production. From January to September 2024, the city slaughtered 5.04 million hogs, ranking second in provincial output while leading in live hog exports. oultry production reached 58.56 million birds (top provincial rank), with egg output totaling 122,700 tons, securing second place in both production volume and export quantity across Hunan. This time,Hengyang secures a major agricultural development project through a partnership between Hunan Laozhaobi Agricultural Technology and Qidong Nongjiaohui Food Co., Ltd. The aquatic products processing initiative will see construction of a 5,000-square-meter facility in Qidong County housing specialized production lines for seafood processing and pre-made dishes, complemented by modern cold chain infrastructure. Commencing operations in 2025, the project will implement contract farming agreements with local cooperatives to develop regional specialty food products. Key offerings include spicy chopped pepper fish and postpartum nutrition meals featuring daylilies, which will be supplied to national restaurant chains. |
