In the Xiangjiang scenic belt of Xiangjiang South Road, members of the Municipal People's Congress, together with the leaders of the Municipal Bureau of Ecological Environment, Yanfeng District, and the volunteers and staff of the Municipal Water Investment, sub district communities, and the Municipal Environmental Protection Volunteer Association, picked up cigarette butts, paper scraps, betel nut dregs, packaging bags and other wastes along the Xiangjiang River embankment, and classified the domestic garbage. They use their voluntary actions to influence and drive the general public to become builders of happy homes, disseminators of civilized behavior, and practitioners for beautiful Hengyang, maintaining a good ecological environment of "smooth river, clear water, green banks, clean embankments, and beautiful scenery" in the Mother River.

Subsequently, the representative professional group of the Municipal People's Congress in the field of urban construction, environmental protection, and resources, together with volunteers, conducted on-site inspections of the Tongqiaogang Sewage Treatment Plant and the Chengnan Water Plant of the Municipal Water Affairs Group, experiencing the entire process turning the  "dirty" urban sewage into "clean"  tap water. They further recognized the important role of urban water resource recycling in protecting the ecological environment and ensuring safe water use for urban residents.

At the symposium, representatives of the Municipal People's Congress, volunteers, and citizens put forward suggestions on how to better protect the Mother River of the Xiangjiang River. Ou Xing pointed out that the Xiangjiang River is the mother river of the people of Hengyang. Protecting the Xiangjiang River and benefiting the people has a glorious mission and a long way to go. Each department directly under the city should fulfill their duties, and the representatives of the National People's Congress should strengthen supervision. The people of the city should actively participate and work together to promote the continuous improvement of ecological and environmental protection work in the city, and bring more sense of happiness and security to the people of Hengyang.
