As of now, the city has promoted the classification of domestic waste in seven counties (cities), five districts, and two municipal parks. Among them, the urban area has carried out the classification of domestic waste in 26 streets, 101 communities, 1083 residential communities, and 900 public institutions, with a coverage rate of 70.83%.

It is understood that 550 primary and secondary kindergartens in the urban area of Hengyang City have incorporated knowledge of household waste classification into their teaching plans, educating and guiding students in primary and secondary schools and kindergartens to actively participate in household waste classification work, helping young children develop good habits of garbage classification from an early age, actively promoting the construction of garbage classification theme parks, creating a popular science museum for household waste classification, and letting the public understand the knowledge of household waste classification. By selecting mascots for household waste classification and conducting competitions on household waste classification knowledge, the city aims to promote the work of household waste classification, publicizing knowledge of household waste classification to enter our minds and hearts.

Municipal public institutions have basically fully covered their waste classification and disposal facilities, and urban areas have basically established a disposal and collection system that matches the classification varieties. In accordance with the requirements of the "four classifications", each urban demonstration area has added 56 new domestic waste classification and transfer vehicles on top of the existing 90 other garbage collection and transportation vehicles, which basically have the ability to collect and transport domestic waste.
