The 2024 Hengyang Spring Cultural Tourism Festival opened at Huashan Village, Hengyang County a few days ago. The event built up the momentum for the third Hunan Tourism Development Conference. The 13th Hengyang County Canola Flower Festival kicked off simultaneously. Themed "visiting the hometown of Wang Chuanshan, enjoying canola flowers, and savoring food of Hengyang County," the festival attracted more than 10,000 tourist arrivals.

The event began with a folk dance performance accompanied by the sounds of Chinese gong and drum. The audience continuously cheered and applauded for the programmes staged, including female solo, flower-drum opera performances, suona solo, and a combination of rock songs. The organizer hosted a series of activities, such as an exhibition of canola products and farm produces, a display of delicacies, a parade of folk culture, and a concert. Tourists were treated with a one-stop travel experience integrating blossom appreciation, leisure, entertainment, shopping, and food.

This year a yin and yang pattern with a diameter of 236 meters and some huge Chinese characters meaning "the 2024 Hunan Canola Flower Festival" will be seen in the canola flower fields and wheat fields at Huashan Village, Hengyang County. Another highlight will be a 55-mu (about 3.7-hectare) pattern of a Chinese dragon and a 17-mu (about 1.1-hectare) pattern of a phoenix. Seen from a mountaintop, golden canola flowers in the valley create a feat for the eyes.

The festival will last until April 2.
