On the evening of September 21st, the 2023 National Science Popularization Day (Hunan) home event and the "Zhurong Exploring Fire and Flying Dream" Nanyue Hengshan Observation Festival were held in Nanyue District. Li Min, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the meeting and announced the opening of the event. Yin Yulong, academician of the CAE Member, Chen Shanguang, director of the National Key Laboratory of Human Genes Engineering, academician of the International Academy of Astronautics, and the former deputy chief designer of the China Manned Space Project, attended the event. Wang Guishu, Secretary of the Party Group and Executive Vice Chairman of the Provincial Association for Science and Technology, introduced the activities of the National Science Popularization Day in Hunan Province in 2023. Municipal Party Secretary Liu Yuegao attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Liu Yuegao sent festival greetings to the vast number of scientific and technological workers. Science popularization facilities are becoming increasingly perfect, science popularization activities are becoming increasingly rich, and the effectiveness of science popularization is becoming increasingly prominent. We have successfully created a national innovative city and won the title of Science and Technology Innovation China Pilot City.

Liu Yuegao pointed out that we should promote technological innovation and scientific popularization with both wings flying together, accelerate the cultivation and construction of new driving forces and engines to promote sustainable growth, and provide strong guarantees for vigorously implementing the development strategy of "manufacturing based city, cultural and tourism based city" and achieving high-quality economic and social development in the city. The secretary hoped that the Association for Science and Technology at all levels and the vast number of scientific and technological workers will take improving the scientific literacy of the whole people as their own responsibility, popularize scientific knowledge, promote scientific spirit, disseminate scientific ideas, advocate scientific methods, create a good atmosphere of learning, loving, emphasizing, and using science in the whole society, promote the high-quality development of Hengyang's science popularization cause, and make new and greater contributions to achieving the beautiful blueprint of "three highs and four new" and accelerating the process of regional centralization.

The evening party on that day was divided into three chapters: "Science for the Country, Technology for the Country", "Dare to Be the First, Brave to Climb the Peak", and "Zhurong enlightens to Lead the Future". Exciting art programs such as dance, drama, situational music, poetry and painting, and scientific experiment shows brought an audio-visual feast to the on-site audience.

At the event site, a special course on improving the scientific literacy of aviation and aerospace for young people in Hunan Province was also released, and awards were given to the winners of the 12th Hunan Provincial Youth Science and Technology Award. Letters of appointment were awarded to the experts who were hired as the first batch of industrial advisory groups by the National Rural Revitalization Bureau and the China Association for Science and Technology. A plaque titled "Provincial Science Popularization Research (Tourism) Pilot County (City) District" was awarded to Nanyue District.

It is reported that the National Science Popularization Day in Hunan Province will be held from September 17th to 23rd, with the theme of "improving the scientific literacy of the whole people and helping science and technology to become independent and strong". During the event, various types of science popularization activities such as science popularization exhibitions, science popularization research, expert reports, technology consulting, science popularization creation, skill training, and Cloud Science Popularization Day were organized throughout the province.

City leaders Zhou Yumei, Zhu Chunguang, and Liu Daxiang attended the event. The guests were invited to attend the event include relevant academicians, experts, and relevant leaders of some provincial departments.
