Hengyang News Network - Reporters Zhao Fuzhong reports that at 18:15 on June 9th, with the ringing of the final bell for the biology subject examination, the 2026 National Unified Examination for Admissions to General Colleges and Universities came to a close. Outside the Hengyang No.2 Middle School examination center, reporters noticed that some citizens were engaging in a “releasing pigeons” activity, sending warm wishes to the students who had just walked out of the examination hall.

In the afternoon of the same day, the examination site was surrounded by flowers and waiting parents. Ms. Wang, a citizen, brought a cage of pigeons, both white and gray - white pigeons symbolize purity and smooth progress, while gray pigeons symbolize returning to the nest and setting off. She placed a cardboard with the words “Wish students to spread their wings and fly high, and achieve success in the examination” beside the cage. Examinees and parents could pay a donation to participate in the “pigeons-releasing ” activity. Some people on the scene gave a blessing donation of 18.8 yuan, with the highest donation reaching 68.8 yuan. Ms. Wang said that this was the first time she had organized such an activity, “I wish the children could be like pigeons, breaking free from the constraints of the examination hall and flying to their own vast world.”.

Accompanied by his parents, a candidate personally released a white dove. Watching the dove flap its wings and fly towards the blue sky, he smiled and said, “This is a special graduation gift. It feels like all the pressure has flown away with the dove.”

The college entrance examination has come to a close, marking the beginning of a new journey. May all senior high school students live up to their youth and efforts, continue to ride the winds and waves on the new track of life, and march toward their ideal future.
Reporters learned that Oriental Magic Leaf, an 80-episode online film and China’s first work themed on the "coordinated development of tea culture, tea industry and tea science and technology" (the "three teas"), was approved by the National Radio and Television Administration on June 8 and is scheduled to start filming this October. Written by Hong Zaihui, a cultural figure and cross-disciplinary expert from Hengyang, the film vividly depicts China’s 5,000-year tea history and the magnificent picture of rural revitalization through fantasy time-travel techniques, filling the gap in China’s long-form film and television works on tea culture.
Oriental Magic Leaf tells the touching story of a young contemporary couple who return to Nanyue to start a business, develop the tea industry and enrich local people through tea. The male lead, Kuang Mingxuan, a master of tea science, brings Nanyue Cloud Mist Tea and replica Hengshan Kiln tea ware to the world along the Belt and Road Initiative. The female lead, Su Qing, a cosmetics R&D engineer, extracts tea polyphenols and theanine from summer and autumn tea to develop high value-added products such as serums and sleep-aiding gummies. Together, they help more than 800 tea farmers in six neighboring villages lift themselves out of poverty and achieve prosperity.
The theme of the film is highly aligned with the main melody of today's society. Centered on the "coordinated development of the three teas", the film vividly interprets the important statement made by General Secretary Xi Jinping on the coordinated development of "tea culture, tea industry and tea science and technology".
In addition, the film is mainly shot in Nanyue Hengshan Mountain, fully showcasing Hengyang's unique tea culture resources. “Among the Five Sacred Mountains, only Nanyue Hengshan produces tea”. Hengyang tea has been a tribute since the Tang Dynasty. Hengshan Kiln tea ware originated in the mid-Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Song and Yuan dynasties. Its celadon tea and wine sets are particularly exquisite, once being transported along the Xiangjiang River, through Dongting Lake and into the Yangtze River for sale at home and abroad together with tea. The Ancient Salt and Tea Road bears witness to the glorious history of Hengyang’s tea trade. These precious cultural heritages will be wonderfully presented in the film, showing the unique charm of Hengyang’s “fine mountains, clear waters, quality tea and exquisite ware” to audiences across the country.
According to the crew, each episode of Oriental Magic Leaf is 10 minutes long. The film is expected to wrap up in April 2027 and be released on national online platforms the same year. Meanwhile, co-branded tea gift boxes, tea-based skincare products and other derivatives will be launched, and shooting location tourist routes will be developed to realize industrial linkage of “promoting tea through film and boosting tourism through tea”.

On the afternoon of June 10, Secretary Zhu Jian conducted an inspection tour in Nan Yue District to advance high-quality economic development.
During the visit, Secretary Zhu underscored that a core responsibility of the Municipal Party Committee is to seize the historic opportunity presented by the upcoming county- and district-level Party congresses. He called for guiding all counties and districts to clearly articulate their development strategies, functional positioning, and priority areas—thereby formulating forward-looking, strategically coherent blueprints aligned with provincial and municipal goals for high-quality development. Such alignment, he stressed, is essential to ensuring coordinated progress and collective advancement toward shared objectives.
With regard to Nan Yue District specifically, Secretary Zhu emphasized leveraging its unique resource endowments to realize two overarching goals: building a world-class cultural tourism destination and establishing a pilot demonstration zone for common prosperity. He urged the district to further refine its development strategy, continuously optimize its industrial structure, and pursue implementation with sustained determination—"one step at a time"—to forge a new chapter in high-quality development.
At the Shuilian Cave Scenic Area, Secretary Zhu reviewed progress on key cultural tourism projects and heard presentations on the district's long-term development vision, functional positioning, and strategic priorities. He reiterated the importance of grounding planning in local advantages and focusing rigorously on measurable outcomes—including tourist volume, permanent resident population density, and per capita disposable income. He highlighted the need to steadily advance flagship initiatives—such as scenic area quality enhancement, visitor experience upgrading, and forest-based economy development—to reinforce structural optimization and lay a solid foundation for sustainable, high-quality growth.
Secretary Zhu also visited the holiday hotel component of the "Seeing South Mountain" cultural tourism complex project—situated along Jin Yue Lake—which is currently under intensive construction. He inspected the site in detail to assess its strategic positioning and construction progress. He directed relevant departments to strengthen on-site coordination services, promptly resolve bottlenecks encountered during implementation, strictly safeguard engineering quality and construction safety, and accelerate project delivery—thus bolstering Nan Yue Mountain's tourism carrying capacity and catalyzing broader cultural tourism industry development.
Liu Zhengxing, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, accompanied Secretary Zhu on the inspection.
The Municipal Government Office of Hengyang City has officially promulgated the Trial Measures for the Construction and Reward Mechanism of Fire Safety "Whistleblowers" in Hengyang City. This policy aims to foster broad-based public participation in fire safety governance by encouraging timely reporting of fire hazards and violations of fire safety regulations, as well as proactive engagement—within one's capacity—in initial fire response and emergency rescue efforts. Grounded in the principle of "addressing incipient risks before they escalate," the Measures seek to establish a robust, collaborative, society-wide fire safety co-governance framework.
Under the Measures, monetary rewards are tiered according to the nature, severity, and verified impact of reported issues. Specifically:
Reports verifying the installation of physical obstructions—including barriers, roller shutters, or other impediments—in evacuation corridors, stairwells, evacuation doors, or safety exits of densely populated venues—will be rewarded with RMB 200–500 upon confirmation.
Verified reports of general fire hazards—such as non-functional indoor fire hydrants (e.g., lack of water supply) or occupation, blockage, or closure of fire vehicle access routes that impede emergency response—will be rewarded with RMB 20–50.
A dedicated reward mechanism is also established for fire alarm reporting and initial response actions:
The first individual to accurately report a fire incident will receive a fixed reward of RMB 200.
Individuals who actively participate in initial fire suppression and demonstrably contribute to containing fire spread, mitigating casualties, or reducing property damage will be awarded RMB 500–2,000, commensurate with the significance of their contribution.
Those whose actions constitute exceptional, life-saving, or property-preserving interventions—and who satisfy statutory criteria—may be formally recognized as having performed heroic acts, thereby qualifying for corresponding commendations, benefits, and statutory protections under relevant regulations.
Reporting channels are diversified and accessible: citizens may submit reports in person at local fire rescue stations, subdistrict (township) offices, or community service centers; via the municipal government's unified service hotline (12345); or through the official "Hengyang Fire" WeChat mini-program.
Reward disbursement is streamlined and transparent:
Rewards for verified hazard reports and for the first fire alarm reporter are issued promptly as mobile phone credit directly credited to the whistleblower's registered number.
Rewards for contributions to initial fire response undergo formal verification by the competent fire rescue authority; upon confirmation of eligibility, recipients receive monetary payments and/or official certificates of recognition.
To ensure accountability and operational effectiveness, whistleblowers must provide accurate, detailed information—including time, precise location, and factual description of the hazard or violation—as well as supporting evidence where available. Whistleblowers are required to disclose verifiable personal identification (e.g., full name and valid ID number) and contact information. Anonymous reports, as well as repetitive submissions concerning identical violations, will not be processed.

On the afternoon of June 9th, Zhu Jian, the Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, went to Zhuhui District to conduct research on the high-quality development of the urban economy. Zhu Jian pointed out that an important mission of the Municipal Party Committee is to grasp the historical window of the upcoming county, city, and district party congresses, guide every county, city, and district to clarify their development strategies, functional positioning, and development priorities, and "draw a good blueprint" with a higher position and a broader perspective, achieving resonance with the high-quality development of provinces and cities, and answering the same questions together. He emphasized that Zhuhui District should base itself on regional endowment and ecological characteristics, anchor the goals of "industrial agglomeration, population agglomeration, and benefiting and enriching the people", scientifically optimize functional zoning, improve development planning, clarify functional positioning, find the right development path, and fully promote regional integration and coordinated development.
At the site of the Hengyang Newruit Isotope and Pharmaceutical Industrialization Project on Baisha Green Island, Zhu Jian inspected the construction progress of the project and learned about the company's research and development and market application situation. He demanded strict control over the investment admission process, focusing on the direction of high-end and modernization, attracting leading enterprises in the industry, and gathering the nuclear technology application industry. We should improve the supporting facilities of the park, strive for special bond support, promote direct access to preferential policies for enterprises, and build industrial advantages. We should introduce a team of top nuclear experts, deepen industry university research cooperation, and enhance the core competitiveness of the industry. We should coordinate and strive for provincial-level special policies, open green approval channels, and create a first-class business environment.

After listening to the report on the development strategy and functional zoning of Zhuhui District, Zhu Jian pointed out that Zhuhui District should grasp two major development propositions: the first is to benchmark the city's modern industrial system, strengthen advantageous industries such as salt brine chemical industry and modern agriculture, orderly layout future industries for nuclear technology application, and scientifically divide the functions of the district. The second is to deeply explore cultural resources such as red culture, industrial culture, and agricultural culture, and create cultural and tourism landmarks in the 272 block to strengthen the cultural and tourism industry. At the same time, it is necessary to consolidate the responsibilities of the party and government teams in different areas, integrate regional resources, strengthen collaborative linkage, break down development barriers, and achieve deep integration and development across the entire region.
Entering the production workshop of Glasses Town, Zhu Jian conducted research on the situation of enterprise settlement and investment attraction. He emphasized the need to streamline the management mechanism of the park, explore win-win cooperation models, and ensure a balance of benefits for all parties involved. We should optimize park planning, rely on transportation and logistics advantages, make good use of industry chain investment and association investment models, expand the scale of the eyewear characteristic industry, and achieve breakthroughs in improving the quality of the town.
At the City Sports Center, Zhu Jian listened carefully to reports on the relevant situation and campus construction of universities such as Zhuhui District and Hengyang Normal University. He requested to have a clear understanding of the development foundation of the university city and to connect it with the implementation of local projects in the development plan of universities. We should accelerate the quality and upgrading of basic education, jointly build suitable junior high schools, primary schools, and Hengyang Normal University in Zhuhui District, achieve rapid improvement in the level of basic education in Zhuhui District, improve supporting facilities for people's livelihoods, and retain university teachers and graduates. We strongly support the construction of alumni entrepreneurship parks, collaborate on the development of the Hengyang East Railway Station area, and create a model of school land integration.
At the site of the Binjiang New City project, Zhu Jian conducted an on-site inspection of the project construction situation and gained a detailed understanding of the development plan of the surrounding area. He emphasized the need to focus on the ecological characteristics of the area adjacent to the Xiang River, do a good job in the "riverside" project, formulate high standard area planning, scientifically plan industrial layout, and lead high-quality development with high-level planning.
Liu Zhengxing, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, Liu Zilan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hengyang Normal University, and Wei Xiaolin, President of Hengyang Normal University, participated in the research.

On the morning of June 9th, a special scheduling meeting was held for the comprehensive investigation and rectification of safety production and hidden dangers in the city. The Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Zhu Jian, attended the meeting and delivered a speech, emphasizing the need for a combination of departments and areas, strict and meticulous measures, and a strong focus on investigation and rectification with a nail spirit. All staff should be prepared for tough battles, fighting with all their efforts, building a strong defense line against floods and disasters, and effectively consolidating the foundation of essential safety. Liu Zhongjie, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of the municipal government, presided over the meeting.
At the meeting, relevant member units of the Municipal Work Safety Committee reported one by one on the progress of hidden danger investigation and rectification in 13 key areas, including fire protection, fireworks and firecrackers, hazardous chemicals, coal and non-coal mines, roads and water transportation, as well as the promotion of the "Six Concentrated Attacks" special action.

Zhu Jian pointed out that since May of this year, the whole city has been closely following the major investigation and rectification, strengthening top-level design, enhancing responsibility consolidation, strengthening city and county (township, street) links, and enhancing the ability to prevent safety risks and respond to emergencies. At present, we have entered a critical period so we must resolutely abandon fatigue, relaxed mentality, or lucky mentality, but use greater efforts to eradicate stubborn diseases, laying a solid foundation for improving the level of intrinsic safety.
Zhu Jian demanded that we should carry out a thorough investigation and rectification of safety production risks and hidden dangers with the spirit of hammering nails. We need to further strengthen top-level design. Every county, city, and district should thoroughly understand the spirit of provincial and municipal documents, implement hard measures, clarify the deadline for major hidden danger rectification item by item, and promote the "Six Concentrated Attacks" special action with high quality. Secondly, we need to further strengthen the integration of departments and blocks, accelerate the progress of major hidden danger rectification, explore the establishment of a county-level fire safety rating mechanism, and optimize the matching of supporting units. We need to further strengthen the tackling of difficult problems, focus on key areas such as fire safety, mining, fireworks and firecrackers, and chemical industrial parks, concentrate our efforts on overcoming difficulties, and strive for practical results.
Zhu Jian emphasized that flood prevention and disaster relief work must be carried out by all personnel preparing for and fighting with all their strength, and responding to any possible situation with a comprehensive plan. We must strengthen the ability to patrol embankments and provide rewards to frontline personnel who timely discover and effectively dispose of hidden dangers, ensuring early detection, reporting, and disposal of insurance situations. Secondly, we need to enhance our emergency professional response capabilities, strengthen professional support, improve the reservoir safety flood prevention plan, and organize county and city districts to conduct typical case reviews and practical training. Thirdly, we need to improve the "631" early warning and response mechanism, and strengthen the responsibility chain of "county for township, township for village". Fourthly, we need to improve the comprehensive response to urban flood prevention, comprehensively inspect key points such as culverts and pump stations, and clear and dredge in advance to ensure rapid and efficient disposal during heavy rainfall. Fifthly, we must strictly observe the safety of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, strictly approve water related activities such as the Dragon Boat Race, and formulate safety control and emergency rescue plans one by one, to ensure the safety and harmony of the people during the festival.

Liu Zhongjie requested to focus on key areas, deepen investigation and rectification, adhere to practical work and implementation, with no hidden dangers or blind spots, fulfill duties and responsibilities without deviation, and effectively maintain the sustained stability of the city's safety production.
City leader Yu Xinfan commented on and re deployed the recent flood prevention and disaster relief throughout the city. City leaders Liu Zhangyu, Liu Zhengxing, Wu Shuguang, Zhou Yumei, Yang Weiping, Chen Liyang, Zhong Fan, Xie Hong, Jiang Tao, Liu Ping, Wu Lesheng, Wang Jing, Liu Zhigang, and Song Guangxin, Director of the Hengyang High Tech Zone Management Committee, attended the meeting.

On the afternoon of June 7, flower shops along Xianfeng Road had filled their most prominent display areas with sunflowers. Their golden petals unfolded in layers, clustered closely together like rows of little suns blooming in formation behind the shop windows.

Ms. Luo, the owner of one flower shop, was carefully tending to the sunflowers. She told reporters, “These were all ordered in advance by parents. The bouquets feature sunflowers at the center, accented with a few roses, symbolizing the wish that students will ‘achieve success in one stroke’.”
She added, “Parents usually give the bouquets to their children on the final day of the gaokao, as an auspicious gesture. Each sunflower is not only a cheer for the exam, but also a tribute to youth.”
