Currently, the water levels of major rivers throughout the city are stable, with levels at major control stations ranging from 0.03 to 4.06 meters below the alert levels. The total storage capacity of water projects in the city has reached 2.397 billion cubic meters, accounting for 67.96% of the total capacity.

According to statistics from relevant departments, the average rainfall across the city since the beginning of the rainy season this year is 120.9 millimeters, which is 87.48% higher than the average for the same period in previous years. The maximum daily rainfall was recorded in Shigang Village, Hengdong County, with 117 millimeters of rainfall. Due to the rainfall, there has been a slight increase in water levels in various river channels. As of 12:30 on April 10th, the water level at Hengyang Station on Xiang River was 53.43 meters, 3.07 meters below the alert level; at Guiyang station on Xiang River, it was 42.19 meters, 3.31 meters below the alert level. The total storage capacity of large, medium, and small reservoirs, as well as mountain ponds, in the city is 1.065 billion cubic meters, 401 million cubic meters, 268 million cubic meters, and 663 million cubic meters, respectively, accounting for 94.66%, 60.25%, 49.37%, and 55.58% of the total storage capacity.

These recent rainfall events have not only significantly raised the water levels of Xiang River but also doubled the storage capacity of reservoirs and mountain ponds, increasing soil moisture content and ensuring the water needs for production and daily life of surrounding residents.

To comprehensively prevent water and drought disasters this year, our city is accelerating the construction of winter and spring water conservancy projects, formulating and improving flood prevention plans, replenishing flood prevention materials, preparing emergency response teams, conducting comprehensive inspections and rectifications of hidden dangers related to flooding, and achieving significant results in flood preparedness work. Before the onset of the rainy season this year, the city had completed repairs to 42 water-damaged projects, reinforced 85 dangerous reservoirs, and managed 12 main tributaries and 4 small and medium-sized rivers; inspections were carried out on 1,452 reservoirs, 390 culverts (pumping stations), 166 embankments (waterways), and 407 irrigation canal areas.

Based on meteorological forecasts and analysis of previous rainfall situations, it is expected that there will be above-average rainfall in our city in April, and in the coming week, major rivers will experience a rise in water levels. While ensuring safety, all reservoirs will seize the opportunity of rainfall to continue storing water, making sufficient preparations for future water needs for production and daily life.
