On the afternoon of April 18, city leaders went to Hengdong County to supervise grain production, food safety, and flood prevention and drought relief work. In Pingtian Village, Xiayou Town, they inspected the growth of rice seedlings in a 10,000 mu (about 667 hectares) comprehensive demonstration area for grain production and learned about agricultural technology and machinery services from large-scale grain growers. They pointed out that government departments and enterprises should fully understand the severe situation facing the tailings pond, effectively carry out hidden danger investigation and governance, and daily supervision, and resolutely rectify problems to prevent safety accidents from occurring at the source.
