In June this year, frequent heavy rains raised concerns among some residents about their impact on local grape production. Recently, reporters visited fruit markets in the city center and found that a small quantity of early-ripening local grapes have already hit the shelves and are being eagerly purchased by residents seeking the summer sweetness.
On the afternoon of July 4th, at a fruit shop on Zhengyangnan Road in Yanfeng District, baskets of grapes were prominently displayed at the storefront, enticing many curious residents. "The taste is fresh and sweet with a hint of acidity," remarked a young woman after tasting them, promptly purchasing 2 kilograms before leaving. At the Xianji Lane Agricultural Market, many vendors neatly displayed grapes at their stalls. Mr. Li, a vendor from Linghu Township, Zhuhui District, mentioned that due to weather factors, this year's grape season has been slightly delayed compared to previous years. Prices are around 16 yuan per kilogram, similar to last year's rates during the same period.
June saw excessive rainfall and insufficient sunlight, adversely affecting grape growth. Currently, with clear and hot weather and abundant sunlight, grapes are ripening and coloring well. Those craving deliciously sweet grapes will need to wait a bit longer. It is expected that a large quantity of local grapes will flood the market by the middle to late July. Once the local grape harvest peaks, prices are likely to decrease. Sales of local grapes are expected to sustain for about a month. Translator: Jing |
