Perseverance After an Accident: A Yong Girl Shouldered the Responsibility That Wasn’t Hers
From:衡阳新闻网 | Date Add in:2025-04-16 10:00:58 [A  A]

In Hengyang County, there is a post-90s "new farmer" named Wang Ting. So far she has worked diligently to carve out her own career path across the vast rural landscape. Yet, what she is most admired for is not her professional achievements, but her moving display of loyalty and responsibility. Faced with life’s relentless trials, she has written a stirring song of great love through her actions.

June 2016 marked the darkest days of Wang Ting’s life. Zeng Zhi, her longtime boyfriend who had pursued her for three years, was suddenly taken from her in a tragic car accident. Grief overwhelmed her, and for a long time, she was lost in the pain of losing her beloved. But before she could even begin to recover, an even heavier blow struck—Zeng Zhi had left behind 600,000 yuan in debt from business dealings.

Wang Ting was torn when staring at the list of debts. Friends and family all advised her, "You have no obligation to take them on as these are Zeng Zhi’s debts. You weren’t married." But in her heart, she held firm. She knew that behind these debts were the hopes and trust of many families. Silently, she vowed: "Zeng Zhi may be gone, but I won’t let him leave with a reputation of broken promises. I’ll repay these debts for him."

To raise the money, Wang Ting embarked on a grueling journey. She traveled to Yunnan, Guangzhou, and other places, searching for opportunities to earn money and carefully settling Zeng Zhi’s debts. For half a year, she endured hardship and saved every penny she earned. After paying workers and various expenses, her own hard-earned savings of over 200,000 yuan were soon depleted. With a heavy debt still remaining, she borrowed an additional 60,000 yuan from friends. Finally, through relentless effort, she managed to clear all of Zeng Zhi’s debts.

Now that the debts were repaid, Wang Ting could have chosen to move on with her life. Instead, she made a decision that stunned everyone—she took on the responsibility of caring for her late boyfriend’s family. Zeng Zhi’s mother, devastated by the loss of her son, was on the verge of collapse. Wang Ting couldn’t bear to see her suffer. She spent over 200,000 yuan to buy the elderly woman a pension insurance, ensuring her financial security in her later years. Beyond that, she took her on trips every year, helping her see the world and easing her sorrow. During their travels, Wang Ting meticulously attended to her needs, taking photos and filling each destination with laughter.

Zeng Zhi’s father, in poor health due to a heart condition, required annual hospitalizations and blood transfusions. Whenever he fell ill, Wang Ting rushed him to the hospital, handling admissions and accompanying him through tests. She covered all medical expenses and, when blood supplies ran low, even rallied friends and acquaintances to donate. Thanks to her care, his condition stabilized.

She also kept Zeng Zhi’s uncle’s family in her thoughts, visiting them once or twice a year with gifts and financial support. Sitting in their courtyard, she would chat with them, listening to their struggles and offering help where she could.

In 2020, Wang Ting reached a milestone of her own—her wedding. The ceremony was warm and romantic, filled with blessings from loved ones. What moved everyone most was the presence of Zeng Zhi’s parents. When Wang Ting saw them, her eyes welled with tears. She rushed over, clasped their hands, and said emotionally, "In my heart, you’ll always be my parents. Today, as I marry, I have six parents—all of you are the most important people in my life."

Deeply touched by the scene, the guests erupted in applause. At that moment, love and warmth filled the air as Wang Ting’s kindness and devotion wove a story that transcended blood ties.

Wang Ting, this post-90s "new farmer," faced the cruelty of life not with escape but with resilience, carrying burdens that were never hers to bear. Through her actions, she has shown what love and responsibility truly mean. In an era often dominated by materialism, her story stands as a refreshing reminder of finest qualities humanity. Her tale will be passed down through generations in Hengyang County, inspiring others to hold fast to their principles, spread love, and offer warmth in the face of adversity.
