On April 17, the 2025 spring semester learning activity of the Hengyang Senior Cadres University Advisory Group officially kicked off, with nearly 100 retired officials gathering to “recharge” their knowledge. Liu Lingli, a deputy to the National People’s Congress, opened the session by giving a comprehensive overview of the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress. She elaborated on five key aspects: the general proceedings of the “Two Sessions,” the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches, highlights of the government work report, duties performed by the Hunan delegation and Hengyang representatives, and her personal performance of duties. The briefing helped participants gain a deeper understanding of the national agenda.

Afterward, a teacher from the university delivered a hands-on training session on the AI large model “DeepSeek,” demonstrating its core functions such as search, Q&A, and creative writing in an easy-to-understand manner. A question like “Hey assistant, what should someone with high blood pressure eat in a day?” immediately sparked enthusiasm among the seniors. They experimented with generating healthy meal plans and festive greetings, enjoying the convenience of intelligent technology. The room was filled with laughter and amazement.

“This training is so practical—it shows that even we seniors can keep up with smart tech,” one retired official said excitedly while showing off an AI-generated wellness recipe.

The Senior Cadres University Advisory Group, composed mainly of former city leaders, has been hosting regular learning activities since 2021.
