On April 19, the Hengyang Table Tennis Association organized the “Table Tennis in 100 Parks, A Healthy Boost for All” World Table Tennis Day and further promote mass participation in the sport across the city.

More than 120 table tennis enthusiasts from various sectors of society took part in the event. Participants included university professors, primary and secondary school students, business owners, and workers. The youngest player was 12, while the oldest was 72. The one-day competition featured a series of intense matches, concluding with awards for the top five performers.

World Table Tennis Day falls on April 23. Pinghu Park, equipped with facilities for table tennis, badminton, basketball, and outdoor track and field, is a popular fitness destination for sports lovers in Hengyang. The city plans to host more events like “Ping Pong in Schools” and “Ping Pong in Communities” to enrich public sports engagement and meet the diverse fitness needs of its residents.

The event was officially launched by Ye Yuquan, Vice Chairman of the Hengyang Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Deputy Director of the Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, Television, and Sports.
