On the afternoon of June 14, Liu Yuegao, Secretary of the CPC Hengyang Municipal Committee, visited Hengshan County to inspect the progress of key projects related to the upcoming Third Hengyang Tourism Development Conference. He emphasized the importance of thoroughly studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, upholding a people-centered development philosophy, and adhering to the principles of benefiting the people and practicing diligence and frugality. He called for high-quality, efficient advancement of key projects to promote the integrated development of culture and tourism, laying a solid foundation for a successful conference.

At the construction site of the Hengshan Sports Park—designated as the main venue for the conference—Liu closely examined the project’s scale, functional layout, and construction progress. Covering an area of 265 mu (approx. 17.7 hectares), the park is designed as a multifunctional space combining leisure, sports, and ecological landscaping. The main structure has been largely completed, and over half of the greening work is done. Liu stressed the need to prioritize public benefit, plan the functional layout scientifically, strictly control the project budget, and maintain high construction standards. He urged that the park be delivered on schedule to provide high-quality leisure space for residents and ensure that the fruits of the conference are shared by more members of the public.

The Zijinshan Tourist Service Center, transformed from a civil air defense facility, spans 3,200 square meters and is equipped with comprehensive service amenities. While visiting the center, Liu was briefed on its layout and infrastructure. He emphasized the need to cater to tourist needs, improve supporting facilities, develop tourism products with local characteristics, and enhance service efficiency and diversity to deliver a more fulfilling visitor experience.

The Hushan Blessed Land Cultural Tourism Area project, located in Xuanzhou Town, aims to become a comprehensive destination themed around tiger-themed culture and to be developed into a national 5A-level scenic area. Liu reviewed the project’s planning and progress, underscoring the importance of tapping into the unique cultural resource of “tiger culture,” highlighting the scenic area’s distinct features, strengthening industrial integration, and advancing the “tourism plus” model. He urged converting resource advantages into sustainable development strengths and building a tiger-themed culture tourism brand with national influence.

Later, Liu visited the construction site of the Xuanzhou Interchange on the Nanyue Expressway. Located in the Xuanzhou tourism zone, the project involves an investment of 128 million yuan and will significantly improve regional transportation upon completion. Liu emphasized the importance of construction quality and safety, and called for speeding up the work to ensure timely completion. He noted that improved infrastructure will support the development of the tourism economy and deliver early benefits to the local population.

The Third Hengyang Tourism Development Conference is scheduled to be held in Hengshan County in the second half of this year. Preparations have now entered a critical phase, with all key projects progressing steadily and in an orderly manner.
