On June 15, the 2025 Hengyang Youth Science and Technology Sports Competition, also serving as the Hengyang selection round for the Hunan Provincial Youth Sci-Tech Sports Competition, officially opened at the Hengyang Intelligent Weighing and Metrology Industrial Park. Ye Yuquan, Vice Chairman of the Hengyang Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), declared the competition open.

The event is hosted by the Hengyang Aeronautical Sports Association and co-organized by the Hengyang Intelligent Weighing and Metrology Industrial Park and Hengyang Qunyingfei Technology Co., Ltd. At the opening ceremony, the organizers delivered a welcome speech, introducing the park’s mission of “empowering with science and technology, and integrating industry with education.” They expressed hopes that the competition would ignite young people’s passion for science and help nurture innovative talents.

Following the opening remarks, Xiong Qi, Director of the Hunan Provincial Aeronautical Sports Management Center, highlighted the significance of the competition: honing professional skills, discovering the scientific mysteries within aerospace model operation, carrying forward the spirit of unity and cooperation in aviation, and fostering a sense of responsibility to contribute to China’s national strategy of becoming a leading aerospace power. He encouraged broader participation from all sectors of society to jointly cultivate emerging stars in Hunan’s science and technology sports arena.

Focusing on events such as aerospace model operation and drone racing, this competition serves as both a showcase for Hengyang youth’s achievements in science and tech sports and a dynamic platform for innovation and hands-on practice. The industrial park pledged to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the event, helping competitors display their best skills and spirit. This competition marks a new milestone in the development of youth science and technology sports in Hengyang and injects fresh momentum into the province-wide effort to discover and foster promising young talent.
