Hengyang’s Express Delivery Volume Surpasses 100 Million Parcels in First Five Months of 2025
From:衡阳市政府门户网站 | Date Add in:2025-06-21 16:41:30 [A  A]

Driven by the digital economy, online shopping continues to surge in popularity among residents of Hengyang, where sending and receiving parcels has become a routine part of daily life. On June 18, the Hengyang Municipal Postal Administration released the latest postal industry economic data, highlighting new trends in the city’s express delivery service capabilities.

According to the report, from January to May 2025, Hengyang’s express delivery volume totaled 109.09 million parcels, marking a 9.75% year-on-year increase. The sector generated a revenue of 132 million yuan, up 6.66% compared to the same period last year. These figures reflect not only the growing enthusiasm for e-commerce among Hengyang residents, but also the thriving momentum of the express delivery industry.

By category, intercity express deliveries accounted for 104.2 million parcels, representing a 10.90% increase and remaining the primary driver of growth. International, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan-related shipments saw an impressive 108.46% year-on-year rise. Peak shopping festivals such as the “March 8 Shopping Spree” contributed to explosive growth, with key consumer events becoming major peaks for parcel volume.

Despite the surge in parcel traffic, delivery efficiency has continued to improve. Thanks to technological empowerment, Hengyang now boasts over 1,400 express service outlets. Logistics operations—ranging from warehousing and sorting to last-mile delivery—are increasingly infused with smart technologies. The industry is rapidly evolving from traditional “sweat-driven logistics” to high-efficiency “smart logistics.”

Innovations such as intelligent sorting systems, automated storage facilities, and unmanned delivery vehicles are enhancing the precision and speed of logistics operations.

A representative from the Hengyang Postal Administration noted that the city’s passion for online shopping has not only fueled the rapid growth of the express sector but also pushed continuous upgrades in service capabilities. Looking ahead, with further advancements in technology and the evolving needs of consumers, Hengyang’s express delivery industry is poised for even broader and more dynamic development.
