In line with the arrangements and requirements of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government on targeted assistance work, Liu Yuegao, Secretary of the Hengyang Municipal Party Committee, led a Party and government delegation to Yongshun County in Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture from June 18 to 19 to carry out targeted assistance efforts. He emphasized the importance of thoroughly studying and implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on Hunan’s development, fully putting into practice the central and provincial policies on targeted assistance, and always treating Yongshun’s affairs as Hengyang’s own. Liu called for continuous advancement in industrial cooperation, strengthened regional collaboration, and deepened talent exchange to jointly write a new chapter in the “Hengyang-Yongshun Family” relationship. Chen Hua, Deputy Party Secretary and Governor of Xiangxi Prefecture, participated in related activities.
During the two-day visit, Liu and his delegation toured several key project sites, including the Yongshun Kiwi Fruit Experimental Station of the Zhengzhou Institute of Pomology under the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Heng-Yong Co-Creation Park in Huaqiao Village, Songbai Town, the local kiwi nursery base, Xiangxi Songbai Rice Industry Co., Ltd., Hepan Community in Furong Town, the Dafeng Meicha Industrial Park in Yongshun Economic Development Zone, and Hunan Zhongfeng Biotechnology Co., Ltd. The delegation inspected Hengyang’s targeted assistance projects, investment initiatives, and livelihood-oriented undertakings, while also assessing grassroots governance and the implementation of support policies. Liu emphasized that targeted assistance to Yongshun is both a major political responsibility and an honorable mission for Hengyang. He called for strengthened accountability and concerted efforts to ensure the full completion of assistance tasks. At a subsequent symposium, after listening to reports on Yongshun’s socioeconomic development and Hengyang’s targeted rural revitalization support work, Liu expressed satisfaction with Yongshun’s achievements. He also shared progress Hengyang has made under the “Three Hubs and Four New Missions” blueprint and its development strategy of “revitalizing the city through manufacturing and boosting the city through culture and tourism,” which has steadily advanced the city’s role as a regional hub. Liu reiterated that Hengyang has always regarded the people of Yongshun as family and treated their development as a shared responsibility. Over the years, both sides have maintained frequent exchanges, deepened industrial cooperation, and achieved tangible results in rural revitalization. He stressed that Hengyang will continue to build on this foundation with greater commitment.
Going forward, Liu stated, Hengyang will resolutely carry out follow-up assistance efforts by strengthening industrial cooperation. Leading enterprises in Hengyang with suitable resources will be encouraged to invest in Yongshun. Further integration between Hengyang’s industrial parks and Yongshun’s economic development zone will be supported to help Yongshun build a modern, comprehensive industrial system.
Regional collaboration will also be enhanced by establishing a robust, coordinated assistance mechanism. Efforts will be intensified in employment support, consumption-driven aid, investment attraction, and social initiatives. A key focus will be on developing a deep tourism cooperation framework to promote joint tourism development between the two areas.
In addition, Liu emphasized the need to deepen talent exchange. A city-county-town pairing mechanism will be established in education and healthcare, while immersion training opportunities for outstanding Yongshun talents in coastal developed areas will be expanded. These measures aim to continuously enrich the “Hengyang-Yongshun as One Family” narrative with new substance.
