On August 6, Leiyang Municipal Market Supervision and Administration Bureau carried out the special action of rapid food safety detection, focusing on the breakfast food that citizens often eat, such as steamed vermicelli roll, rice noodles, dumplings, noodles, etc., and through the 10 minute rapid detection technology, the problem of illegal addition of borax was investigated, so as to strengthen the "security line on the tip of the tongue" of the masses.

In the morning of that day, law enforcement officers successively entered restaurants such as Liangxin Dumplings, Fu Shang Bao (Jinhua North Road store), and Hand-in-Hand steamed vermicelli roll. At the testing site, law enforcement personnel proficiently operate processes such as sampling, adding liquids, and dropping reagents. With the help of a hair dryer to accelerate the reaction, the test paper can present the results within 10 minutes.

"The test paper did not change color, indicating that the food in your store did not contain borax and is safe", the law enforcement officers explained to the merchants and onlookers in detail. The borax rapid test demonstrated on site uses chemical coloring method, and the darker the color, the higher the content. If any suspicious samples are found, they will be immediately sent to the laboratory for retesting to ensure accurate and error free test results. At the same time, law enforcement officers reiterated to businesses the requirements for standardized operation, explicitly prohibiting the use of illegal additives, encouraging consumers to provide clues through reporting channels, and jointly participate in food safety supervision. A total of 37 batches of breakfast samples were tested during this special fast inspection, and no illegal addition of borax was found.

It is reported that since May this year, the bureau has launched a special crackdown on "two excesses and one non-conformity" (excessive addition, excessive dosage addition, illegal addition) throughout the city. Through a comprehensive investigation of the entire chain of food production, circulation, and catering services, a total of 607 batches of high-risk food, key agricultural products, and homemade food were randomly inspected, and 49 illegal activities were found. Currently, it is being processed in accordance with the law and regulations.

"At the next step, we will continue to increase the frequency of random inspections, expand the coverage of testing, and strengthen the main responsibility of merchants through measures such as door-to-door publicity and business training. We will promote the establishment of a long-term management mechanism for food safety and protect the food safety of the masses through normalized supervision", said the relevant person in charge of the bureau.
