September 3 marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. On the morning of this significant day, the Hengyang Branch of China Post Group held a launch ceremony for the commemorative stamps titled "Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War" at its philatelic business hall. The event attracted a large number of stamp collectors and citizens, creating a rare and lively scene in recent years for stamp issuances. The set of commemorative stamps consists of 13 stamps and one miniature sheet, with a total face value of 20.8 yuan. The stamps primarily reflect the 14-year history of the Chinese people’s resistance against Japanese aggression, highlighting key battles and campaigns. Using sculptures themed on the War of Resistance as the main artistic form and historical photographs as backgrounds, the stamps are highly artistic, historically expressive, and visually impactful. They emphasize the pivotal role of the Communist Party of China and China’s status as the main eastern battlefield in the global anti-fascist war. At the stamp issuance event, several elderly stamp collectors, who had deeply felt the pains of war, expressed that the stamps made them realize how hard-won the victory was. Yang Shifa, a veteran who had fought in the war, expressed his hope for world peace and people’s happiness. He said, "This set of stamps serves as an excellent historical textbook, conveying the Chinese people’s determination to cherish peace and create a better future, as well as their appreciation for a happy life." It is understood that the first to thirteenth stamps in the set primarily focus on "remembering history and honoring the martyrs." They include themes such as the fighting against Japanese aggression, the sacrifice of eight female soldiers who drowned themselves in a river rather than surrender, the outbreak of the full-scale War of Resistance, the Battle of Pingxingguan, the Nanjing Massacre, the Battle of Tai’erzhuang, the Hundred Regiments Offensive, the Liu Laozhuang Company, On Protracted War, people’s war, the Chinese Expeditionary Force, fighting side by side, and the great victory. The miniature sheet features the logo of the 80th anniversary commemorative activities of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, emphasizing "cherishing peace and creating a future." Stamp enthusiasts across the city can purchase the stamps at 10 philatelic outlets in Hengyang and its counties (cities and districts), or place orders online via the China Philately Web Office, the China Post mobile app, the China Post Micro Mail Philately WeChat Mall, or the China Post Mall WeChat mini-program. On the same day, the Hengyang Philatelic Association held a stamp exhibition in front of the philatelic business hall to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. The exhibition displayed 15 frames of stamps, philatelic items, and physical objects related to the War of Resistance, allowing citizens to gain a deeper understanding of the brutality of the war and the preciousness of peace and happiness. "We organized this thematic stamp exhibition to remember history and cherish peace!" said Wang Zhaohui, vice president of the Hengyang Philatelic Association. Among the exhibited stamps and physical objects, one item stood out: a "blood chit" used by American Flying Tiger members when they came to China to fight against the Japanese army. Collected by Wang over a decade ago, this artifact made its first public appearance at the exhibition. |
