On September 11, Wu Shuguang, Chairperson of the Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a delegation of CPPCC members to the Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau to conduct a special inspection on the implementation of key proposals for 2025.

In 2025, the Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau processed a total of 13 CPPCC proposals, covering areas such as elderly care, social assistance, and charitable services. Among these, the proposal titled "On Vigorously Developing the Silver Economy and Strengthening the Construction of the Elderly Care Service System in Our City" was designated as a key proposal. Its implementation will serve as a core component of the municipal CPPCC's democratic evaluation process this year.

Wu Shuguang and his team successively visited the Tongqi Medical and Health Care Base in Zhengxiang District and the Yanlaigui Elderly Care Service Center in Hushi Town, Hengnan County. During the inspection, Wu conducted an in-depth review of the industrial layout of the healthcare bases, the supply of products and services, and the operational mechanisms of the elderly care service centers. Wu emphasized the need to further strengthen political commitment, refine the policy support system, effectively integrate existing resources, encourage the exploration of diversified investment and operational models, fully stimulate market vitality, actively guide multi-sectoral participation, and steadily promote the effective coordination of policies, resources, and services in order to continuously meet the diverse and multi-tiered demands of elderly care.

At the Baishan Care Home in Shigu District, Wu conducted an on-site inspection of the facility’s management, infrastructure, and service guarantees, and obtained detailed information regarding the living conditions, day care, medical services, and activity arrangements for the elderly. Wu pointed out that the development of the elderly care service system should be closely integrated with the cultivation and expansion of the silver economy. It is essential to encourage and support the introduction of advanced concepts and technologies in smart elderly care and health management, thereby fostering new growth drivers for the city's economic development. At the same time, efforts should be made to actively expand the talent pool for elderly care services and ensure that the elderly care service platform becomes a people-centered initiative that benefits a broader elderly population.

Wu emphasized that the Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) will continue to focus on the development of the elderly care service system in the city. Leveraging its democratic supervision functions, the CPPCC will mobilize multi-stakeholder forces, actively provide policy recommendations, and contribute wisdom and strength toward building a more comprehensive and high-quality elderly care service system in the city.

Municipal leaders Zeng Jianhua, Fu Ping, Ye Yuquan, Tao Zhaohui, and Xie Maowen, as well as Li Yuquan, Secretary-General of the Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, were present at the event.
