The Zhuhui District Photography Association was officially inaugurated on October 12 during its first member representative conference, marking the establishment of the first such association in Hengyang’s urban districts. The event was witnessed by representatives from the Zhuhui District government, the Hengyang City Photography Association, and member delegates.
Named after the historic Zhuhui Pagoda, Zhuhui District has long been regarded as the "Eastern Gateway" to Hengyang, known as the "Wild Goose City." It is the city’s most populous, historically rich, and largest district by area, boasting profound cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and dynamic development scenes. In recent years, the district has nurtured a growing number of talented photographers who, driven by their passion for their hometown and life, have showcased Zhuhui’s socioeconomic progress through their lenses, with many works winning awards at provincial and national levels. The association provides a platform for photography enthusiasts to learn, exchange ideas, showcase their talents, and contribute to society, while also injecting new vitality into the district’s cultural and artistic diversity. It currently has 51 founding members. Moving forward, the association will focus on capturing the essence of the era and celebrating everyday life through visual storytelling. Members will engage deeply with grassroots governance, rural revitalization, project construction, enterprise production, and public welfare initiatives to produce high-quality works that inspire and document the times. Their mission includes telling Zhuhui’s stories effectively, amplifying its voice, and presenting a broad vision of the district’s progress through impactful imagery. The association plans to organize regular activities such as photography lectures, critiques, theoretical discussions, thematic exhibitions, and creative field trips. These efforts will delve into the district’s historical and cultural roots, highlight new developments, portray local customs, and showcase ecological beauty, fostering deeper integration between photographic art and Zhuhui’s growth. Members will also enhance their artistic expertise, refining techniques in composition, tone, and color use, while focusing on detail and emotional expression to excel in national and provincial competitions and contribute to the district’s high-quality development. During the inaugural meeting, the association’s establishment was formally approved, and its charter, five key management systems, and election procedures were reviewed and adopted. The first council was elected, along with the president, vice presidents, secretary-general, and supervisor. To mark the occasion, the association organized its first field shoot at the Xiangnan Students’ Union Memorial Hall. |
