On October 29, coinciding with the Chongyang Festival, Liu Yuegao, Secretary of the Municipal Committee, paid a special visit to several representatives of centenarians in the city, extending heartfelt greetings and conveying the care and warmth of the Party and government. On this occasion, he extended sincere festival wishes to all senior citizens across the city.

Liu Yuegao first visited Mr. Luo Jian, a 100-year-old resident of Hongqi Community in Huangchaling Sub-district, Yanfeng District. Mr. Luo served as leader of his village production team for over four decades, making significant contributions to grassroots development. During the visit, Liu engaged in a warm and cordial conversation with Mr. Luo, expressing deep concern for his health, daily life, and family circumstances. Observing Mr. Luo surrounded by his loving family, Liu expressed great satisfaction and encouraged the family members to continue providing attentive care, ensuring that the elder could enjoy a peaceful and fulfilling retirement.

Subsequently, Liu proceeded to TBEa Garden Community in Baishazhou Street to visit Mr. Zhang Qinghua, aged 101. A retired worker from Xiangyong Coal Mine, Mr. Zhang now resides in Hengyang with his children. Liu held a friendly discussion with Mr. Zhang and his family, inquiring about their living conditions and access to medical services. The conversation turned to the secrets of longevity, bringing laughter and joy to the gathering and creating a deeply touching and warm atmosphere.

During the visits, Liu emphasized that respecting and caring for the elderly is a cherished traditional virtue of the Chinese nation, and that supporting the elderly is a shared social responsibility. He stressed the importance of safeguarding the well-being of older adults, fully utilizing their experience and wisdom, and protecting their legitimate rights and interests, so that the benefits of high-quality development in Hengyang may be more equitably shared among the elderly population. He called for widespread promotion of the values of respect and care for seniors, urging society to actively support the advancement of elderly care services and foster a positive social environment characterized by respect, filial piety, love, and mutual assistance toward the elderly.
