On November 8, the National Security Talent Development Seminar and Hengshan Forum, hosted by the Discipline Evaluation Group of National Security Studies under the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, was held at the University of South China. The forum brought together leading experts and scholars in the field of national security studies to share teaching practices, address key challenges in talent cultivation, and promote exchanges to enhance the quality of talent development.

Zhang Zhuohua, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee and President of the University of South China, and Liu Yuegao, Secretary of the CPC Hengyang Municipal Committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Academician Fan Weicheng and Professor Cheng Lin, conveners of the Discipline Evaluation Group of National Security Studies, also attended and addressed the forum.

In his speech, Zhang Zhuohua introduced the university’s history and achievements, noting that discipline development and talent cultivation in national security studies are vital to safeguarding the nation’s overall development. He pledged that the university would seize this opportunity to further strengthen discipline construction and contribute “the USC strength” to advancing national security.

Liu Yuegao emphasized that Hengyang has always attached great importance to national security and talent development, integrating national security work into the city’s overall economic and social planning. He stated that Hengyang would continue to prioritize political security and consolidate the people’s defense line for national security.

Academician Fan Weicheng spoke highly of the seminar and offered suggestions for advancing discipline construction, stressing that discipline leaders must possess firm political commitment, strategic vision, and the drive to overcome challenges.

During the forum, Yuan Meinan, Deputy Secretary-General of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, conferred the plaque of the “Hunan Provincial Education Base for the Holistic View of National Security.” Experts including Shen Yi and Liu Shu delivered model courses, while Yu Tiejun, Jiang Xinyu, Zhang Yaze, and Liu Wenjun shared their insights on talent cultivation models and approaches.

Liu Jing, Deputy Director-General of the Hunan Provincial Department of Education, and experts and scholars from across the country attended the forum.
