The 2025 National Metrology Work Symposium was held in Hengyang, Hunan Province on November 11. Wang Junshou, Vice Governor of the Hunan Provincial People's Government, attended the symposium and delivered a keynote address. Bai Qingyuan, Vice Minister of the State Administration for Market Regulation, also attended and addressed the meeting. Wu Wenqing, Chief Planner of the Ministry of Water Resources, and Wang Zhensheng, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of the National Pipeline Network Group, participated in the event and delivered speeches.

The symposium emphasized that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China’s development environment is undergoing profound and complex transformations. While metrology undertakes significant opportunities for advancement, it also faces increasingly severe challenges. In alignment with the overarching work principle of "upholding political integrity, strengthening supervision, promoting development, and ensuring safety," and focusing on the strategic priorities of "one large market, two strong countries, three supervisions, and four safety objectives," the conference underscored the need to strengthen scientific metrology, industrial metrology, and people’s livelihood metrology, thereby laying a solid foundation for the basic realization of socialist modernization.

The meeting comprehensively reviewed achievements and identified existing challenges in metrology work since the 14th Five-Year Plan period. It conducted an in-depth analysis of the new circumstances and requirements confronting metrology in the current context, formulated a scientific plan for national metrology development during the 15th Five-Year Plan, and made systematic arrangements with clear directives for future initiatives. Delegates from the National Institute of Metrology of China and provincial market regulation authorities of Hunan, Guangdong, Shandong, Inner Mongolia, and Sichuan delivered presentations sharing best practices and experiences. Participants visited the Hengyang Intelligent Weighing Instrument Metrology Industrial Park to observe on-site developments in metrology instrumentation, viewed an exhibition commemorating the 40th anniversary of the promulgation of the Metrology Law, and engaged in focused discussions centered on the theme "Scientific Planning, Comprehensive Efforts, and Consolidating the Metrology Foundation for the Basic Realization of Socialist Modernization."

Representatives from relevant departments of the State Council, central enterprises, market regulation authorities of all provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, as well as institutions including the National Institute of Metrology, the China Academy of Testing Technology, the China Metrology Society, the China Metrology Association, and China Jiliang University attended the symposium.
