On November 10, during the 15th National Games, the General Administration of Sport of China and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security jointly held the commendation ceremony for the 2021–2024 National Advanced Units and Individuals in Mass Sports, as well as advanced collectives and workers in the national sports system. Hengyang Sports School was recognized as a “National Advanced Unit for Mass Sports (2021–2024).”
In recent years, the school has deepened the integration of sports and education, strengthened the cultivation of reserve athletic talent, and achieved notable results, including multiple successes on the international stage. At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, three athletes trained and developed by the school, such as Zhou Yaqin, Deng Lijuan, and Luo Zongshi, competed for China, winning silver medals in balance beam and women’s speed climbing, and placing fourth in the women’s 57kg taekwondo event. The number of Olympic athletes from the school ranked first among all prefecture-level cities in the province.
Hengyang Sports School has been named a “National Advanced Amateur Training Collective” five times, a “National Advanced Unit for Mass Sports” three times, and a “National High-Level Reserve Talent Base” for five consecutive cycles. Moving forward, the school will continue to strengthen talent development and contribute to building a “Sports-Strong Hengyang.” Translator: Jing
