On the morning of September 8th, a symposium of the 42nd Teachers' Day and high-quality development of basic education of Hengyang City was held. The Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Zhu Jian, attended the meeting and delivered a speech, emphasizing the need to closely adhere to the goal of upgrading basic education, further unify thinking, consolidate consensus, anchor goals, work hard, accelerate the construction of regional education centers, and provide satisfactory education for the people. Liu Zhongjie, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of the municipal government, presided over the meeting.

The Municipal Education Bureau, Leiyang City Government, Hengnan County Education Bureau, and Hengyang No.8 Middle School respectively made exchange speeches on the effectiveness of basic education development, the improvement of county-level education, the promotion of "county-level revitalization", and the high-quality development of schools. Teacher representatives Gu Miao from Hengyang No.1 Middle School and Xiao Wenyu from Qidong County No.2 Middle School shared their teaching insights based on their own frontline teaching.

Zhu Jian fully affirmed the achievements of the city's basic education work. He pointed out that since the beginning of this year, the whole city has been closely focusing on the goal of "upgrading basic education", showing a good trend of more solid foundation in education, continuous optimization of teaching staff, and steady improvement in education quality. In the next stage, we need to strengthen goal orientation and continuously deepen education reform. We need to implement the revitalization action of county-level high schools, strictly implement the targeted assistance mechanism for leading high schools, synchronously improve the supporting guarantees in the county, and establish a regular rotation and exchange mechanism for urban and rural principals and teachers. We must steadily improve the quality of education and teaching, deepen innovation in teaching models, implement the "Double Reduction" policy to enhance quality and efficiency, strengthen the teaching staff, and attach importance to mental health.
