Rednet Moment News, September 23 (Reporter: Wang Heng; Photographer: Qin Lou) — “Over more than a decade of striving and advancing in Africa, I have deeply realized that Chinese enterprises ‘going global’ are not only seeking broader markets, but also building a bridge for China-Africa cooperation.” At the opening ceremony of the 12th Global Hunan Entrepreneurs Conference, Gong Wu, Executive President of the China-Africa Business Council, President of the Hunan Chamber of Commerce in Rwanda, and Chairman of Zhongchen Kejian (Guangdong) Group, shared the entrepreneurial story of Hunan enterprises going global and expanding in Africa as a representative of overseas Hunan entrepreneurs, interpreted new opportunities for Hunan-Africa economic and trade cooperation, and called on overseas Hunan entrepreneurs to keep their hometown in their hearts and give back to it.

In Gong Wu’s view, Chinese enterprises “going global” are not only seeking broader markets, but also building a bridge for China-Africa cooperation. He introduced that Zhongchen Kejian has focused on its core business in Africa and fulfilled the responsibilities of a Hunan entrepreneur. It has successively undertaken major landmark projects such as the Rwandan Presidential Palace, an international airport, and institutions of higher learning, winning high recognition from the local government through stringent standards and honest business practices. At the same time, it has invested in and built a textile blanket factory in Uganda, filling a gap in the local industry and bringing tangible benefits to people’s livelihoods. “Every step Zhongchen takes in Africa embodies the responsibility of a Hunan entrepreneur, and with solid results, it contributes its modest share to China-Africa economic and trade cooperation.”

Gong Wu said by way of example that Hunan has advantages in fields such as rail transit and construction, and can participate in Africa’s infrastructure development in railways, ports, power, and telecommunications, achieving sustainable development through an integrated investment-construction-operation model. Africa has abundant agri-food resources such as coffee and aquatic products, as well as policy support including zero tariffs and green channels for agri-food products exported to China. Hunan can expand the import and processing of specialty African agri-food products and foster a new consumption ecosystem.

At the new stage of development, Gong Wu called on overseas Hunan entrepreneurs to strive in the wider world while keeping their native land in their hearts, respond to the call for “Hunan Entrepreneurs Returning Home,” actively invest and establish a presence in their hometown, and contribute to Hunan’s high-quality development. He said that the Global Hunan Entrepreneurs Conference had provided them with a top-tier platform for seeking common development, and called on them to use hometown ties as a bridge and industry as the foundation to move forward hand in hand and create a brilliant future together.
