Hengyang Students Win Medals at World Vocational College Skills Competition

Students from Hunan Polytechnic of Environment and Biology have won one gold, one silver and three bronze medals at the 2026 World Vocational College Skills Competition Finals.

Jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and 32 ministries, industry organizations and social groups, the competition is an international, nonprofit vocational skills event and one of the most prestigious, largest and most influential comprehensive skills competitions in China's vocational education sector. It consists of preliminary rounds, semifinals and finals, with the finals divided into contest, ranking and championship stages.

The contest stage covered a wide range of fields and drew strong competitors. The college sent seven teams to five tracks: biotechnology, ecological protection and environmental management, forestry, medical technology, and pharmaceutical production and management. Its Drug Production Technology entry won gold in the pharmaceutical production and management track, while its floral design entry won silver in forestry. Bronze medals went to entries in biotechnology, landscape design and construction in forestry, and traditional Chinese medicine skills in pharmaceutical production and management.

In recent years, the college has deepened teaching reform and integrated workplace requirements, vocational skills certification and competition standards into its training programs, curricula and practical teaching. Guided by the principle of using competitions to improve teaching, learning, reform and program development, it has incorporated competition tasks into daily training and workplace skills into classroom instruction. This has helped connect classroom learning, skills training, workplace practice and professional certification, while improving students' practical skills, innovation and job readiness.
