Young people pass on the torch, so the red heritage shines over Hengyang. On the afternoon of October 24, the grand finals of the citywide "Loyal Hearts Saluting the Martyrs, Red Flag Shining over Hengyang" Red Junior Docent Competition, jointly hosted by the Hengyang City Working Committee for the Care of the Next Generation, the Senior Cadres Bureau of the CPC Hengyang Municipal Committee, and the Hengyang Municipal Education Bureau, opened warmly at the Xiangnan Student Union Memorial Hall. Fifteen primary and secondary school students from all counties (cities, districts) across the city gathered at this red shrine to tell Hengyang's red stories in young voices and to carry forward the immortal revolutionary torch.
The Xiang River flows on, and the original aspiration burns like a torch. As an important landmark of Hengyang's red spirit, the Xiangnan Student Union Memorial Hall served as the final stage for this youthful oratory. After selections and recommendation by each county (city, district), 15 junior docents advanced to the finals. Among them were primary school pupils, innocent yet determined, and middle school students full of high spirits. Carrying reverence for the revolutionary forebears in their hearts, they studied Hengyang's red history — from the awakening clarion call of the Xiangnan Student Union to the heroic songs sung across the land of Hengyang — turning weighty revolutionary stories into sincere and moving youthful narration.

"Please listen to Hengyang's red stories!" On the stage, clear and standard Mandarin echoed through the exhibition hall. The contestants spoke with emotion: some recounted the fervent years when the young students of the Xiangnan Student Union pursued truth and rushed to join the revolution; some recalled the moving stories of Hengyang's martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country; others unearthed little-known historical details, interpreting the red spirit from fresh perspectives. Their expressive and well-modulated delivery, combined with carefully prepared slides, background videos and music, and supported by poised, graceful gestures, brought the long-sealed history out of the archives and vividly to life.

The event was organized by the Red Culture Communication Center of the Hengyang City Working Committee for the Care of the Next Generation, the Working Committee for the Care of the Next Generation of the Hengyang Municipal Education Bureau, and the Xiangnan Student Union Memorial Hall. It aimed to tap deeply into Hengyang's local red resources, plant the red gene deep in the hearts of the youth, and guide the younger generation to love the Party, the country and their hometown. Taking oratory as a bond, the junior docents are not only learners of red stories, but also disseminators and inheritors of red culture.
A competition has its finish line, but heritage has no end. This red oratory event held at the Xiangnan Student Union Memorial Hall helps the city's red cultural heritage be passed on in the hands of the young generation. Red seeds are taking root and sprouting in the children's hearts, and Hengyang's red stories, carried by young voices, will echo on and be handed down from generation to generation.
