The finals of outstanding works for the “Star Award in Hunan” of mass cultural activities of the 8th Hunan Arts Festival kicked off at the Grand Theatre of Hengyang Culture and Arts Center. 13 dance performances from Yongzhou, Huaihua, Xiangxi and other cities were staged, showing the results of local mass cultural development.

The mass cultural activities of the festival are divided into three parts like the “Star Award in Hunan” works evaluation and the excellent mass cultural works tour performance. 126 works selected across the province were shortlisted for the finals of the “Star Award in Hunan” works evaluation.

They were created around such themes as major time nodes, significant development strategies, revolutionary culture, traditional culture, and Hunan culture.

The works cover various categories, including music, dance, drama, quyi, children’s programs, choral performances, and square dancing, showing the achievements of Hunan’s cultural endeavors in the new era.

According to the program categories, the finals will be held in 10 sessions at the Hengyang Culture and Art Center, the Qunxing Theater of Hengyang City Culture Center, and other venues.

The finals will last until August 31. During the period, four tour performances of outstanding works of mass cultural activities will also be held.
