Established in 1953, Hengyang Maternal and Child Health Hospital is a Grade A Tertiary (Class III, Grade A) specialized hospital integrating maternal and child healthcare, medical treatment, rehabilitation, teaching, and scientific research. It is the only institution of its kind in the Hengyang region to hold this highest accreditation level for maternal and child health services. The hospital also operates under the name "Hengyang Children's Hospital," a title officially adopted in 2008.

Overview‌

Hengyang Central Hospital, established in 1902, is a Grade A Tertiary (San Jia) comprehensive hospital directly under the Hengyang Municipal People's Government. Originally founded as Renji Hospital by Dr. E.C. Peake of the British London Missionary Society, it is renowned as the "Source of Western Medicine in Southern Hunan." In 2023, it was officially affiliated with Hunan Normal University. The hospital has been recognized as a demonstration unit for high-quality development of public hospitals in Hunan Province.

The hospital operates under a "one hospital, three campuses" model, comprising the Yanfeng Campus, Huaxin Campus, and Qifeng Campus. It covers an area of 376 mu with a building area of over 400,000 square meters. The hospital has 1,500 authorized beds and employs more than 1,700 staff members. It features 64 clinical and medical technology departments, including two provincial key clinical construction specialties and 13 provincial key clinical specialties (prefecture-level).

Hengyang Central Hospital provides integrated services encompassing medical care, teaching, research, prevention, and healthcare. It has established five major emergency treatment centers, including a Chest Pain Center (the first standard-certified one in Hengyang) and a Stroke Center. The hospital leads the Hengyang Branch of the Shanghai Orthopedics Clinical Medical Research Center and the Southern Hunan Pediatric Branch of the Shanghai Children's Medical Center.

Introduction: Established in 1952, Hengyang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital (the Affiliated Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine in Hengyang) is a comprehensive a Class-A Grade-3 (top level in China) general hospital under directly supervision of the National Health Commission， the services include medical treatment, research, teaching, prevention, and rehabilitation. It covers a total area of 51 mu and has 500 beds. It has won many awards including "National Health System Advanced Collective", "National Baby-Friendly Hospital", "Provincial Advanced Collective", and "Provincial Civilized Hospital".

Affiliated Nanhua Hospital of University of South China is located at No. 336 Dongfeng South Road, Hengyang City, Hunan Province. It was founded in 1958 and covers an area of over 370 acres. It is a three-level comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, preventive health care, teaching, and research. It is a directly affiliated hospital of Nanhua University and a designated hospital for medical insurance in Hengyang City. It has been repeatedly honored as "Top Ten Hospitals", "Civilized and High-Quality Service Hospital", "Model Unit of Political and Administrative Conduct", and "People's Trustworthy Hospital for Clear and Transparent Medical Treatment".

In July 2021, the Party Committee of Affiliated Nanhua Hospital of University of South China was awarded the title of Advanced Base Party Organization in the Education System of Hunan Province. On September 1, 2022, Dr. Zhang Yi from the Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Department of Nanhua University Affiliated Nanhua Hospital officially opened his outpatient clinic.

The Second Affiliated Hospital of University of South China is a large-scale comprehensive 3-A hospital integrating medical services, education and research. It is a pilot hospital in Hunan Province for establishing a modern hospital management system. The new hospital is located at No. 35 Jiefang Road, Hengyang, Hunan Province. The current hospital director is Liu Wenjie.

The Second Affiliated Hospital of South China University was established in December 1949. On November 1951, it was renamed First Hengyang Municipal Hospital. In 1959, the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine was established. In 1961, it began to undertake clinical internship and practice teaching tasks for medical students. In April 1969, it was named the General Outpatient Department of Hengyang City Disease Prevention and Control Hospital. In June 1972, it was transferred to Hengyang Medical College and renamed the Affiliated Hospital of Hengyang Medical College. In July 1977, it was renamed Hengyang Medical College Affiliated Hospital. In 1980, the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine was established. In October 1983, it was renamed the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hengyang Medical College. In 2009, it was renamed the Second Affiliated Hospital of South China University. In September 2009, the new hospital area was put into use, and the hospital entered the era of one hospital with two areas. On June 6, 2020, it was selected as one of the medical institutions in Hunan Province conducting nucleic acid testing for the novel coronavirus. On January 18, 2024, the well-known expert outpatient clinic was officially inaugurated and opened. On March 27, the new hospital's integrated diagnosis and treatment center of the traditional Chinese medicine department was re-opened after renovation.

As of May 2024, the hospital has 2,249 employees, 2,023 professional staff, covers an area of over 150 acres, has a building area of 160,000 square meters, and has 1,850 beds. It has 35 clinical departments, 47 wards, 62 nursing units, and 9 medical technology and key laboratories. There are currently 1 national clinical key project, 3 national clinical key project cultivation projects, and 9 provincial clinical key projects.

    The First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China was established in 1943 and is located in the historical and cultural city of Hengyang.
