1. After entering China, foreigners who need to reside in the country for non-diplomatic and non-official purposes may apply to the exit-entry administrative authorities of public security organs for the issuance, extension, replacement and reissuance of residence documents in accordance with relevant regulations.
For first-time visa-related business applications, employing entities shall complete foreign-related entity filing and registration procedures at the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of county-level public security bureaus within their registered administrative jurisdictions. Prior modification procedures shall be completed in advance if there are any changes to entity information or designated foreign affairs handlers.
2. First-time applicants must submit applications in person accompanied by designated foreign affairs handlers. Applications may be handled by designated foreign affairs handlers for applicants aged 60 and above, those with limited mobility due to illness, high-level talents, talents in short supply urgently needed by the country, and applicants applying for residence documents for non-first time.
3. Applicants with limited mobility due to illness shall additionally submit certificates issued by medical institutions at or above the county level or Grade A Class II hospitals; high-level talents and talents in urgent national shortage shall provide supporting documents recognized by competent Chinese government authorities.

1. Application Form for Extension of Foreigner Work Permit in China. Fill in online, print it out, have it signed by the applicant and sealed with the official seal of the employing entity, then upload it to the system(original edition; electronic edition of the original; copy).
2. Original work permit documents, including valid Foreign Expert Certificate and Foreigner Employment Certificate within the current validity period(original edition).
3. ID card of the designated foreign affairs handler(original edition). Exempted from submission for registered entities with non-first-time applications.
4. Work experience certificate(original edition; electronic edition of the original; copy). Issued by the applicant’s former employer to verify work experience relevant to the current position, covering job title, working duration and past projects. It shall be affixed with the official seal or signed by the person-in-charge of the former employer, together with valid contact phone number or email address of the contact person. For Category A high-end foreign talents complying with the Classification Standards for Foreigners Working in China, namely those selected into domestic talent programs and those meeting internationally recognized professional achievement criteria, a commitment system shall be adopted for this document. Applicants who have won well-known professional awards may submit relevant award certificates. All non-Chinese documents shall be attached with Chinese translations sealed with the official seal of the employing entity.

7. Employment contract or appointment certificate (including dispatch letters of multinational corporations)(original edition; electronic edition of the original; copy). Chinese-version contracts are required, which shall be signed by the applicant and sealed by the employer without any alteration. For credible exemplary employers recognized by the approval authority and those with no bad credit records for three consecutive years, applicants who cannot provide employment contracts before entry may submit appointment certificates instead, and shall supplement formal employment contracts when applying for the People's Republic of China Foreigner Work Permit after entry with consistent core information. Inconsistent information will lead to re-application, except for salary raise or job promotion.
The employment contract or appointment certificate (including dispatch letters) must specify working location, job duties, remuneration, working period in China, position and signed/sealed pages. Appointment certificates apply to personnel working under intergovernmental or inter-organizational agreements, chief representatives and representatives of overseas representative offices in China, and overseas contractual service providers. Dispatch letters are issued by headquarters or regional headquarters of multinational corporations for dispatching senior managers and professional technicians from overseas to domestic subsidiaries or branches. Any missing essential information shall be supplemented by additional supporting documents. Where regional headquarters of multinational corporations in China assign staff to domestic affiliates, both the dispatch letter and the employment contract signed with the regional headquarters shall be submitted.
