On September 26, the launch ceremony for Liu Jie’s new book, "Elegant Shigu," was held at the city library in Hengyang.

Shigu Academy, with a history of 1,200 years, is one of China’s earliest academies and a significant source of Huxiang culture. It has attracted numerous renowned scholars, including Han Yu and Liu Zongyuan, who came to compose poetry and leave their mark.

"Elegant Shigu" takes a unique approach by exploring various poems that depict Shigu Academy, incorporating classic references and thorough research to comprehensively showcase the academy's historical significance. The book presents the allure of Shigu Academy through a broad and dialectical lens, highlighting its pioneering spirit, innovative ethos, national spirit, and the transcendental essence of its landscape poetry.

With its aesthetically appealing design and numerous photographs of the academy from different eras, the book immerses readers in its rich cultural heritage. It represents the latest research on Huxiang culture, possessing significant innovative and cultural value.

Liu Jie is a columnist and a senior engineer at the Hengyang Water Resources Bureau, as well as a specially invited cultural and historical expert at the Hengyang Political Consultative Conference. She has served as a long-time lecturer on Japanese at Nanhua University for doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate students, and has been a prominent speaker at various domestic forums, including the "Shigu Academy Forum," "Yancheng Citizens’ Lecture Hall," "Nanfeng Forum," and "Huxiang Forum," dedicated to the inheritance and promotion of Chinese culture.
