Luo Ganghui: Cultivating Students at the Podium, Warm Blood Nourishing Lives
From:衡阳新闻网 | Date Add in:2025-06-04 20:06:59 [A  A]

Luo Ganghui, a Communist Party member and teacher at Henggang Middle School in Hengyang, has dedicated thirty years to the educational frontline. From his classroom podium, he imparts knowledge and responsibility to generations of students, at the same time, he also extends an educator’s compassion into the realm of social good through voluntary blood donation. Since his first donation in 2007, he has given blood 50 times, totaling 19,000 milliliters—equivalent to four adults' total blood volume—embodying the profound meaning of "dedication" through action.

Luo has donated blood regularly every year since 2007. After joining the apheresis (component blood) donation program in 2020, he established a routine with the blood center: every Wednesday morning, when he has no classes, the center calls him the prior afternoon to schedule a donation. Rain or shine, he arrives punctually as long as he is physically able. This mutual trust stems from his unwavering belief: "Whenever the society needs me, I will respond."

"Donating blood may seem trivial," Luo often says, "but if it were our own family member in urgent need, it would mean everything." He understands the fragility of the voluntary blood donation system—without donors, lives on operating tables could hang in the balance. This simple empathy drives him to view blood donation as "a small act of kindness within my power," a commitment he has upheld for 18 years.

As a Party member, Luo lives by the pledge he made when joining the Party. Beyond donating blood, he actively encourages colleagues and students to engage in public service, inspiring others through action. His office is stocked with blood donation pamphlets. And during breaks in the school, he shares the significance of donation with students, weaving philanthropy into his educational practice.

In the classroom, Luo earns respect through rigorous scholarship; in society, he sets an example of selfless dedication. "Education isn’t just about imparting knowledge," he reflects. "It’s about passing on values. A blood donation may be small, but it teaches students about responsibility and commitment."

To stay healthy, Luo plays badminton weekly—a hobby that strengthens his body and serves as an outlet for stress. "Donating requires health, and health requires exercise," he remarks with a smile. "They go hand in hand." This positive mindset allows him to excel in his dual roles as educator and humanitarian.

Luo’s passion has spurred fellow teachers to donate blood, with many young educators joining the cause. Blood center staff call him their "most punctual donor," while students hail him as a "role model who writes teacher’s ethics with warm blood."

Despite honors like "Outstanding Individual in Teacher Ethics" and the "Award for Dedication in Voluntary Blood Donation," Luo remains humble: "I’ve only done what any ordinary person can." This simplicity epitomizes the spirit of an educator and Party member—seeking no fame, only a clear conscience.

Over thirty years of teaching, Luo has embodied an educator’s perseverance; through eighteen years of blood donation, he has fulfilled a Party member’s original aspiration. As he puts it: "Helping others brings joy to oneself." This, perhaps, is the most beautiful form of an educator—and the warmest power of social good.
