Xuan Zhou is a little town with a long history, convenient traffic, wonderful legends and stories and abundant local products.

It is said that a large sandbank was shaped because of the accumulation of the sand and mud from a western branch of Xiang Jiang River, on which a special vegetation was growing, called Xuan Grass. Therefore, the sandbank was named Xuan Zhou. More than 600 years has passed since the first government office was set in the town. The two stone roads in the town are particularly old and witness many significant historical movements.

Xuan Zhou has a very convenient traffic. Located on the bank of Xiang Jiang River in the southern Heng Shan County, Xuan Zhou situates in the water district of the Xiang Jiang Navigation and Power Complex with a moist subtropical monsoon climate. Xuan Zhou is only 30 km to Hengyang City, and 10 km to Hengshan Mountain, through which 107 state road, Wuhan-Guangzhou Highspeed Railway and Hengyang-Nnayue Expressway pass.

Culture and legends in Xuan Zhou are also very wonderful, and places of interest are various too in Xuanzhou. Ancient tombs, ancients walls and ancient battlefields can be reached in Xuan Zhou, especially the cultural relics built thousands of years ago, including the site of Heng Shan Kiln, Jin Lian Temple the family temple of Ouyang Fang the secretary of state of Song Dynasty, and San Sheng Temple built when Qian Long, one of the emperors in Qing Dynasty, visited here. The most completed one, the Liu Jingong Temple has been listed as the cultural relic protection unit.

Peach, plum, water melon and fragrant melon, fresh date, pomelo in Xuan Zhou are all of great quality and delicious. Because oof the variety of the fruits there, Xuan Zhou s also called Family Fruits County. Besides, Xuan Zhou is abundant in vegetables and poultry as well. The locally-produced edible oil, sour vegetables, the local poultry Shan Huang Chicken, river fish, wild rabbit and so on are very well known.

From Hengyang City: go along 107 state road and enter Xuan Zhou from Jiu Dupu exit. About 25 minutes.
From Changsha City: go along Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway, through Hengshan Bridge, and enter Xuan Zhou Tourist District. About one and half hour.
From Hengyangdong Highspeed Railway Station: go along 107 state road towar Hengyang City and enter Xuan Zhou from Jiu dupu exit. About 25 minutes.
