Yumu Mountain is located in Hengyang Basin in the hilly area of central Hunan, which is situated in Yumushan township, Zhengxiang District in Hengyang, Hunan Province. The core scenic zone covers an area of about 4 square kilometers, and the combined area is about 20 square kilometers. The mountain is located in the west of Hengyang city, whose main body is 238 meters above sea level and the relative height is 180 meters. Yumu Mountain was formerly known as Yunfu Mountain. As a saying goes in Cangjie Chapter written by Li Si of the Qin Dynasty for unifying characters, “Yunfu Mountain is low and wide.” Since ancient times, Yumu Mountain has been known for its efficacious praying for rain. According to Jingzhouji by Sheng Hongzhi of Dongjin Dynasty, “Yumu Mountain is located in the east of Xiang(Hunan), and there is a temple on it. When people prayed, it rained in turn. Thus, the mountain got its name’Yumu’.” |
