1. Program Introduction

In order to deepen the academic friendship and mutual understanding between Chinese and foreign young generation, and to build a platform for the exchange of scientific research young talents in the world, China Scholarship Council (CSC) continues to carry out China Link Short-term Scientific Exchange Scholarship Program (referred to as China Link Scholarship) in 2025.

2. Program Scheme

① Funding Categories

General scholar: applicable to current undergraduates or graduates.

Senior scholar: applicable to current Ph. D candidates or faculties

② Duration

1-12 months

Start study in China no later than August 31, 2026. 

③ Working Language

English or Chinese, depending on the program provided by the Chinese host universities.

All disciplines other than Chinese language study.

3. Funding

Successful applicants will receive a full scholarship from CSC during their stay in China, including tuition waiver, free on-campus accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance and monthly stipend (CNY 3,000 for general scholars; CNY 3,500 for senior scholars).

4. Eligibility

① Be a citizen of a country other than the People's Republic of China and be in good health both mentally and physically.

② Be under 45 applying for general scholars; Be under 50 applying for senior scholars.

③ Register as full-time student or employed as full-time academic staff at CSC's foreign partner university by the time of application and throughout the proposed stay in China.

5.Application Process

①Scholarship application portal opens to applicants all year round. 

After obtaining admission qualification, applicants log into Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login) to complete CSC online application and upload supporting documents. Online application guide please refer to Appendix 3.

② Application processed by Chinese host universities.

③ Chinese universities should submit scholarship nomination list to CSC at least 2 months before the start of study. The submission time could be flexible according to each university's enrollment and admission arrangements.

④CSC notifies scholarship admission result to Chinese host universities.

⑤Chinese host universities notify scholarship admission results to applicants.

1. Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, good moral character and academic excellence, be in good health, both mentally and physically.

2. Be under 45 years of age when applying for general scholars.

Be under 50 years of age when applying for senior scholars.

3. Be registered as a full-time student or employed as a full-time academic staff at CSC’s foreign partner universities at the time of application and throughout their proposed stay in China.

4. Have received either the admission notice or the invitation letter issued by the Chinese host university.

Ⅴ. Application Process

1. Applicants should contact the Chinese host university to obtain admission documents or invitations.

2. Applicants should log into the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login) to complete CSC online application and upload supporting documents. For the online application guide, please refer to Appendix 3.

3. Application will be processed by Chinese host universities.

4. Deadlines for Chinese host universities to nominate scholarship candidates to CSC are April 15 2024; July 152024;October 15 2024; and January 15 2025, occurring four times for this call.

5. Proposed dates for CSC to send scholarship admission results to Chinese host universities are May 15 2024; August 15 2024; November 15 2024; and February 15 2025, occurring four times for this call.

6. Chinese host universities will notify the scholarship admission results to applicants.


China Link Scholarship Program

Xiang University excellent international students scholarship aims to reward undergraduates, masters and doctoral candidates who are diligent, hardworking and excellent .

The reward quota is 15% of the total number of international students per academic year. The amount of reward is 3000 yuan for undergraduates, 4000 yuan for graduate students and 5000 yuan for doctoral students.


Application conditions:

a) International students who have been enrolled and studied in Xiangtan University.

b) Abide by laws, regulations and the rules of Xiangtan University;

c) Attitude is correct, hard work, no untimely absence of class, late, early withdrawal phenomenon, class attendance rate is not less than 95%;

d) Excellent academic achievement;

e) Actively participate in all kinds of students activities and perform well.

If you violate the laws and regulations, you will not attend the scholarship selection.

every year from September 15th to September 25th, once every school year;

The scholarship is applied by the students themselves. They are accepted by the colleges and signed the application opinions. The application form is handed over to the international students section office of the international exchange college, and the committee will evaluate the scholarship.

Xiangtan University Excellent International Students Scholarship

To attract more outstanding foreign student to be enrolled and encourage registered foreign students to be more excellent in school, Hunan Normal University launches "Hunan Normal University Scholarship for Foreign Students".

Hunan Normal University Scholarship for Foreign Students

In order to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and people around the world and promote China's exchange and cooperation with other countries in various fields, the Chinese government sets up scholarships for talented students and scholars to pursue higher education or conduct research in Chinese universities.

The China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as "CSC"), entrusted by China's Ministry of Education, is responsible for the admission, enrollment and administration of Chinese Government Scholarship recipients.


I. Scholarship Categories and Application

(I) Bilateral Program

The program accords with the cooperation and exchange agreements or consensus reached by the Chinese government and the governments and institutions of other nations. It is open to undergraduates, postgraduates, general and senior scholars.

An applicant shall file an application with the dispatching department of their home countries.

(II) University Program

The program is designed to finance the study of talented international students in China that are directly selected and recommended by designated Chinese universities. The supporting student categories are various which is subject to the requirements of each of these universities.

An applicant shall file an application with Chinese universities undertaking this program.

(III) Designated Scholarship Programs

These programs are set up in accordance with cooperation agreements between China and international organizations and institutions.

An applicant shall file an application with the international organizations and institutions concerned.



(IV) Student Exchange Program

The program, launched in accordance with exchange and cooperation agreements between Chinese universities and foreign partners, is designed to support general and senior scholars for a training session of no more than 12 months.

An applicant shall file an application with Chinese universities and their foreign partners.

II. Supporting Categories, Duration, Institutions, and Majors

(I) Supporting Categories

Chinese Government Scholarship programs sponsor undergraduates, postgraduates, general and senior scholars.

(II) Duration

The Chinese Government Scholarship covers both major study and Chinese language (preparatory) study. The language courses last one year, whereas the duration of the scholarship for major study conforms to that as required.

(III) Institutions and Majors

Designated Chinese universities offer scholarship recipients academic programs in science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics, law, management, education, history, literature, philosophy, and fine arts, among others. Please visit the website for further information about designated Chinese universities and majors they offer.


III. Scholarship Coverage

1. Tuition fees;

2. Free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy;

3. Stipend:

  Undergraduates: CNY 2,500 per month;

  Master's students/general scholars: CNY 3,000 per month;

  Doctoral students/senior scholars: CNY 3,500 per month.

4. Comprehensive medical insurance:

   CNY 800 per person per year;
   CNY 400 per person (for programs lasting less than six months)

IV. Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must:

1. be a citizen of a country other than the PRC and in good health both mentally and physically;

2. be an academically excellent holder of high school diploma or its equivalent under the age of 25 when applying for an undergraduate program;

3. be an academically excellent holder of a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent under the age of 35 when applying for a Master's program;

4. be an academically excellent holder of a Master's degree or its equivalent under the age of 40 when applying for a doctoral program;

5. be a holder of a high school diploma (or higher) under the age of 45 when applying for a general scholar program;

6. be a master's degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50 when applying for a senior scholar program;

7. have passed the HSK (Level 3) when applying for a Chinese-taught undergraduate or general scholar program (excluding Chinese language majors);

8. have passed the HSK (Level 3) when applying for a Chinese-taught senior scholar program;

9. have passed the HSK (Level 4) when applying for a Chinese-taught postgraduate program;

10. meet the admission requirements of the university of preference in terms of language proficiency and academic ability, among others, when applying for a program taught in a language other than Chinese.


V. Application Process
1. An applicant shall learn about designated Chinese universities and majors they offer by visiting websites 

or other means, and identify the preferred scholarship program, designated university and major;

2. An applicant shall reach the designated university for admission documents;

3. An applicant shall reach an application receiving agency for a recommendation;

4. An applicant shall fill in and submit the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship online via the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System

5. The application receiving agency shall submit the recommended candidates list and their application documents;

6. The CSC will organize designated universities and experts concerned to examine applicants' eligibility and academic performance before finalizing the short-list candidates;

7. The CSC will notify the admission results to the application receiving agency that will subsequently have the applicant informed.

VI. Application Documents

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (filled in online);

2. A scanned copy of the Passport Information Page. An applicant shall submit a clear scanned copy of the information page of his/her passport that will not expire on or before March 1, 2023. Renew the passport if the requirement is not met. An applicant who fails to apply for a passport due to objective reasons may submit valid documentation or documentary evidence that carries information about the full English name, sex, nationality and date of birth of the applicant upon the approval of the application receiving agency;

3. Diploma and certificate of highest education (notarized photocopy). An applicant who is a current university student shall submit the certificate of expected graduation or student status issued by his/her university;

4. Academic transcripts. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English shall be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;

5. Certificate of language proficiency. When applying for a Chinese-taught program, an applicant shall provide a valid HSK score report that meets the program's language ability requirements. When applying for a program taught in a language other than Chinese, an applicant shall provide a certificate of proficiency in the language as required by the designated university, such as the IELTS or TOEFL test report;

6. Admission documents. When applying for a postgraduate program or for academic education as a general or senior scholar, an applicant shall provide the admission documents issued by the university of preference, including an admission letter, a pre-admission letter, or the invitation letter from a prospect supervisor (admission documents will serve as a priority of admission in granting the Chinese Government Scholarship);

7. A study or research plan written in Chinese or in English (no less than 200 words/characters for undergraduates; no less than 500 words/characters for scholars; no less than 1000 words/characters for postgraduates);

8. Recommendation letters. An applicant for a postgraduate program or for academic education as a senior scholar shall submit two recommendation letters in Chinese or in English from professors or associate professors;

9. An applicant for the arts or design program shall provide his/her own works (such as videos and paintings);

10. An applicant under the age of 18 shall submit the legal documents of his/her legal guardian(s) in China;

11. An applicant to study in China for more than six months shall submit a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (the original document, printed by Chinese quarantine authorities, shall be filled in in English and kept by the applicant). The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are invalid. Medical examination results are valid for only six months;

12. An applicant shall submit a valid Certificate of Non-Criminal Record (or Police Clearance Certificate) issued by the local public security (such as the police station), usually issued within six months prior to the submission date of the application.

Application Guide for Chinese Government Scholarship

I. Program categories


1. University Graduate Student Program

II. Scholarship Coverage


Full scholarship includes tuition fee, accommodation fee, medical insurance fee, and a monthly stipend (CNY 3000 for a master's candidate and CNY 3500 for a doctoral candidate).


III. Application Requirements


1. Excellent non-Chinese graduates with good academic performance, good physical and psychological health, and no criminal records.


2. For master's degree applicants: with bachelor's degrees and less than 35 years old;


For doctoral degree applicants: with master's degree and less than 40 years old.


3. No funding from any other organizations or institutions (Statement needed).


4. Language Eligibility:


Applicants for clinical medicine programs: A minimum score of 260 in HSK4 for programs taught in Chinese, and 220 in HSK4 for programs taught in English.


Applicants for other majors: A minimum score of 220 in HSK4 for programs taught in Chinese;


A minimum score of 6 in IELTS or 85 in TOFEL for programs taught in English.


Those who meet one of the following conditions can apply for a language test result waiver:


a. Applicants whose first language or official language of the country is Chinese or English.


b. Applicants who have taken a degree program taught in Chinese or English.


5. A relatively strong academic basis, scientific research capability and innovation ability.


IV. Application procedure


1. Online application in CSU application system. (This is a MUST step, applicants who don’t complete this step won’t be considered)


Register and log in to the CSU international student online system https://csu.17gz.org/member/login.do, select Chinese Government Scholarship, fill in the application form and submit it.


2. Online application on CSC system. The CSC Online Application is available at http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login). Select program category in Type B. Agency number of Central South University: 10533. Fill in the information, submit it online and print the application form.


Submit application online materials to Central South University. (CSC does not accept application materials)


Please submit the scanned copies of the FOLLOWING materials to both CSC and CSU systems. Applicants with incomplete materials will not be considered.


a. Photocopy of the passport (more than one-year of availability).


b. Certificate of the Highest Academic Degree (Notarized photocopy in Chinese or English). If the applicant is the final year student of the current degree period, please prove the pre-graduate certificate.


c. Stamped Transcript of the Highest Diploma or notarized Chinese/English-translated transcript.


d. Physical Examination Record (Photocopy) with blood test report attached. Applicants must take ALL examinations listed on the form because an incomplete form is regarded as invalid. Please fill in all the blanks of the form in Chinese or English and get it signed by the doctor and stamped by the hospital. The examination date shall be after December 1, 2021, and please bring the original Record to CSU if admitted.


e. Non-Criminal Record with the issued date after December 1, 2021.


f. Certificate of Linguistic Competence such as IELTS, TOFEL, HSK, etc., or supporting certificate for a language test waiver. For specific requirements please see "3 Language Eligibility".


g. Research Plan not less than 800 words. Please specify your previous research experience, achievements, prospective research field, etc., which indicate your research potential and ability. Please write it carefully!


h. Two Chinese/English Recommendation Letters from different professors/associate professors with their contact details. The signature date shall be after December 1, 2021.


i. Acceptance Letter Format, published papers, and other supporting materials (Submitting these materials may increase the possibility of admission).


j. CV.


k. Statement of no funding from any other organizations or institutions.


Applicants who pass the initial review will be notified in the System and can then go through Step 3.


3. Application Fee Payment


When the applicants pass the initial review, please pay the application fee of CNY 500 on the Unified Payment Platform of CSU according to the email (WeChat, Alipay, and UnionPay are available).


Please complete the application fee payment within ONE week, otherwise, the application cannot continue. If you fail to pass the initial review, NO NEED to pay the fee.


4. Academic Review


Relevant schools will conduct an academic review for applicants to comprehensively examine their academic background, scientific research ability, or innovation potential.


5. Final Review


According to the materials and the application situation, the students will be reviewed for final admission results, please pay attention to the CSC online application system and CSU online application system.


6. Material Submission and Result Release


CSU will recommend an admission list to CSC, which will decide the final applicants to be admitted.


CSU will send the applicants admitted the Admission Notice, on which the FINAL SCHOLARSHIP CATEGORY is written down.


Due to the limited time for application, please pay attention to CSU Online Application System and emails continuously. All information will be updated on the System, so please reply in time when receiving a message.


V. Enrollment and Notification


1. Admission Letter and Visa Application Form will be sent before July 31, 2022 in principle. The exact delivery time depends on the reviewing procedure.


2. Due to the adjustment of the CSC admission policy this year, applicants recommended by the university to CSC may not be finally admitted as students enjoying Chinese government scholarships. Please refer to the Admission Notice for the final scholarship category.


3. Registration time is the beginning of September annually and the exact time is specified on the Admission Notice. All applicants admitted must come to School of International Education, CSU to register during the time period stated on the Admission Notice. If the students cannot come because of the pandemic, please follow the online registration procedure. Those who fail to register within the prescribed time will be disqualified from admission.


4. Scholarship owners cannot change the university, major, or study duration.


5. The application fee will not be refunded and materials will not be returned whether being admitted or not.


6. Please don't apply for CSC and CSU scholarship programs at the same time.


VI. Annual Review


Scholarship owners must participate in the annual review every May. Those who don't meet the corresponding requirements will be disqualified from the scholarship. Students who violate Chinese laws and school rules will be given corresponding disciplinary action, from circulated notice of criticism to school expulsion.

2022 Application Guide for CSC Scholarship University Program

Chinese Culture Research Fellowship is established by the Ministry of Education of China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) to sponsor overseas scholars and specialists of Chinese culture to conduct short-term research and exchanges in China. China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) is authorized to handle the enrollment and carry out the routine management of this scholarship program.
30 scholarships are available in 2009.
 


Research Area and Ways
1. Applicants shall be engaged in researches in the fields of Chinese language, literature, history, philosophy, education, economics, ancient architecture, history of art, traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture.
 


2. The applicants shall be supervised by a Chinese supervisor or cooperate with Chinese experts in the designated Chinese institutions of higher education to carry out their researches.  


Application
1. The applicants may directly apply to CSC for the Chinese Culture Research Fellowship or via the Chinese institutions of higher education, organizations or Chinese diplomatic missions in the applicants` home countries.
 


2. The duration of the fellowship shall not exceed 5 months. The fellowship can be extended once, but for no more than 1 month.  


Eligibility
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, in good health and under the age of 55.
2. Applicants must have obtained doctoral degree or hold academic title of associate professor or higher.
3. Applicants must have regular jobs engaging or mainly engaging in Chinese culture researches and have relevant works or papers published.
 


Details of Fellowship
-  Exemption of research fee, and accommodation fee;
-  Monthly research subsidy: CNY 3,000 Yuan;
-  Fee for outpatient medical service and Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China;
-  One-off subsidy for books and reference materials: CNY 750 Yuan
-  Reimbursement of actual travelling expenses incurred for academic researches based on the research plan with the approval of the supervisor or the cooperating professor: no more than CNY 1,000 Yuan.
 


Note:
1) Fee for outpatient medical service refers to the outpatient expense in the institution`s hospital or the hospitals appointed by the institution. The students should pay for a certain percentage of expense in accordance with the institution`s relevant regulations.
 


2) Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China is provided by MOE for the scholarship students in China against hospitalizing for serious diseases and accidental injuries. The institutions or the appointed medical assistance agency provide advancement service for insurance expenses, and claim for compensation with relevant payment receipts from the insurance company according to the stipulated insurance articles. The claim of individual student will not be accepted by the insurance company.

The applicants must fill in and provide the following materials truly and correctly (in duplicate).
1. Application Form for Chinese Culture Research Fellowship (printed by CSC), filled in Chinese or in English. It can be downloaded from CSC website (
www.csc.edu.cn).
2. Contents and abstracts of published works and theses, written in Chinese or English.
3. Research plan written in Chinese or in English (no less than 2000 words).
4. Letter of recommendation by the person in charge of the applicant`s working institution; documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or in English.
Applicants shall submit the above application materials to CSC 3 months prior to the time they plan to come to China.
 


Approval and Notification
After receiving the application materials, CSC, within 45 days, will organize relevant institutions to process the application materials and shall send the Confirmation of Chinese Culture Research Fellowship, Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) to the successful applicants directly or to the recommending institutions.

Application Procedures for Chinese Government Scholarship-University Postgraduate Study Program  

   

Chinese Government Scholarship-University Postgraduate Study Program is established by the Ministry of Education of China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) aiming to offer support in building international high level universities, and promote Chinese higher education brand. The enrollment is directly managed by a part of Chinese higher institutions. MOE entrusts China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) to keep the enrollment record and carry out the routine management.  

   

 


Note:
1.In principle, the courses will be taught in Chinese. Scholarship students are required to take one-year remedial Chinese language course and pass the examinations prior to the major study if their Chinese language level is not qualified. If students take one-year Chinese language course, the duration of the scholarship will be extended for one year.
 


2.Some courses can be taught in English.  


3.Duration for scholarship specified at the time of admission can NOT be extended in principle.

Details of the Scholarship
 


1. Full scholarship:
- Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, fee for basic learning materials and accommodation on campus;
- Living allowance;
- One-off settlement subsidy after registration;
- Fee for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China.
 


Note:
1) Costs of the laboratory experiment or internship that beyond the university`s arrangements should be afforded by the student himself.
2) Fee for basic learning materials covers the necessary learning materials prescribed by the host institution, and other materials shall be self afforded.
3)  Monthly living allowance is paid to the students by the host institution at the following rates (CNY Yuan per month):
-  Master degree students: CNY 1,700 Yuan
-  Doctoral degree students: CNY 2,000 Yuan
 


Scholarship students shall get their monthly living allowance from the date of registration. New students who register before 15th (15th included) of the registration month will get the full amount of the living allowance of that month, and those who register after 15th will get half amount. The graduates will be given a living allowance for another 15 days after the graduation time set by the university. The allowance will be terminated from the next month after students suspend their studies, drop school or complete schooling from the university. Monthly living allowance covers school holidays. Scholarship students who do not get the monthly living allowance during holidays can get that upon return on campus. The allowance will be suspended for one month if students do not register on time without permission from the university in advance, leave for non-health reasons or are absent from the university over a month.  


Students who have to suspend their studies because of serious diseases should go back to the home country and pay for the international trip by themselves. With the university`s approval, the scholarship status can be reserved for at most one year, and their living allowances will be suspended at the same time. The scholarship will be terminated for those who suspend their studies for other reasons.
4) New students will get one-off settlement subsidy upon arrival in China.
 


-  CNY 1,000 Yuan for new students who will study in China up to six months
-  CNY 1,500 Yuan for new students who will study in China for one academic year or more
5) Fee for outpatient medical service refers to the outpatient expense in the institution`s hospital or the hospitals appointed by the institution. The students should pay for a certain percentage of expense in accordance with the institution`s relevant regulations.
 


6) Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China is provided by MOE for the scholarship students in China against hospitalizing for serious diseases and accidental injuries. The institutions or the appointed medical assistance agency provide advancement service for insurance expenses, and claim for compensation with relevant payment receipts from the insurance company according to the stipulated insurance articles. The claim of individual student will not be accepted by the insurance company.  


7) International travel expenses: self-afforded.

7. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (printed by Chinese quarantine authority and only for those whose period of studies in China lasts up to six months) filled in English. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. The medical examination results are valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration while determining the time to take the medical examination.
 


The above materials should directly reach Chinese higher institutions undertaking this program by March 31th 2009. Individual applications will not be accepted by CSC.  


Approval and Notification
1. Chinese higher institutions will review the application materials and decide on the list of accepted students.
2. In principle, students are not permitted to change their academic programs, or the duration of study specified in the Admission Notice.

Scholarship-Application Procedures for Chinese Government Scholarship-University Postgraduate Study Program

   

   

The Short-term Scholarship Scheme for Foreign Teachers of Chinese Language is set up by the Ministry of Education of China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) with a view to helping overseas professional teachers of Chinese language to improve their teaching skills and to facilitate the cooperation and exchanges in Chinese language teaching among teachers from different nations. China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) is authorized to handle the enrollment and carry out the routine management of this scholarship program.
Recruitment quota for 2009 will be specified according to MOE Scholarship Scheme.
 


Application
The applicants may apply for the scholarship through the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in their home countries or directly apply to CSC. The application deadline is April 30th, 2009
 


Eligibility  

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, be in good health and under the age of 50.  

2. Applicants must be engaged in teaching Chinese for at least three consecutive years and be full-time Chinese teachers for the time being. 3. Applicants must have obtained Bachelor`s degree or above.

Application Procedures for Short-term Scholarship for Teachers of Chinese Language from Aborad

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with valid foreign passport, healthy body, good character, willing to abide by Chinese laws and regulations of the school, respect the habits and customs of the Chinese people.

2. Education Background and Age Limit:

(1) Undergraduate student
Length of schooling: 2-3 years( Junior);4 -5 years( Senior)
Eligibility:
For those to be undergraduates of arts, enrollment will be on the basis of competitive selection in light of degree certificates(equal to or above graduate from high school in China), medium stage C level certificates of HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi -- Chinese Proficiency Test), and the examinations and tests held by the universities.
For those to be scientific, medical, agricultural, or technological undergraduates, enrollment will be on the basis of competitive selection in light of degree certificates(equal to or above graduate from high school in China), primary stage C level of HSK result, and the Admission examinations.
Age limit: under the age of 25;

(2) Master Degree students
Eligibility: College graduate with bachelor’s degree and recommendations of two vice-professors or professors, having passed enrollment examination; or graduating as an undergraduate in China at the same year, excellent in courses, recommended to be admitted without entrance examination;
HSK:Applicants for English-medium program whose secondary education was NOT conducted in English need to provide an English level certificate, and the Chinese proficiency requirements are not mandatory, but their degree-related thesis/dissertation shall in principle be written in Chinese, and the abstract of the thesis/dissertation shall be written in Chinese; applicants for Chinese-medium programs need to have passed the Chinese HSK test with Grade C of Elementary Level, or have a statement from their embassy which proves that their secondary education was conducted in Chinese.

(3) Ph.D student
Eligibility: Postgraduate with master’s degree, recommended by two vice-professors or professors, passed entrance examination.
Applicants for doctoral studies must be of Master's degree, with certificates, list of courses accomplished, two recommendation letters by teachers with titles of associate professor or above, and pass the examinations or tests held by the universities and colleges. Applicants already in China should attend united doctoral students admission examinations held for native students. Foreign postgraduates in China who are qualified of graduating and studying for doctorates ahead of schedule can study for doctoral degrees in advance according to the relevant regulations.

3. Entrance Exams and Proficiency

Visiting Students and Senior Visiting Students are admitted according to their diploma credentials, based on competitive selection.

Undergraduate students of liberal arts are admitted according to their diplomas, academic record credentials, and the medium stage C-level credentials for the HSK test, after passing entrance exams or proficiency assessment, based on competitive selection.

Undergraduate students of science, engineering, agriculture and medicine are admitted according to their diplomas, academic record credentials, and the primary stage C-level credentials for the HSK test, after passing entrance exams or proficiency assessment, based on competitive selection.

Master Degree or Ph-D Students are admitted by related universities according to their bachelor, or master's degrees, academic record credentials, and recommendation letters by two associate professors or professors, after passing exams or proficiency assessment.

Those who apply for enrollment out of China and are admitted without the entrance exam have to finish all courses and pass corresponding examinations before obtaining qualifications to work on graduation thesis. They would otherwise have to graduate as trainees.

Applicants in China have to take part the entrance exam for graduate students.

Graduating senior undergraduate or Master Degree Students in China, who have met the requirements of being recommended to study for master, or doctor's degrees without the entrance exam, can be admitted by related universities according to corresponding regulations.

Undergraduate, Master Degree or Ph.D students and Visiting Students applying to major in disciplines of arts, have to offer the pictures, recordings, and audio-visual materials of their own works of art, as well as letters of recommendation.

Admission priority will be given to graduates who once studied in China and apply for further studies again.

Entry Requirements

According to the requirements of Ministry of Education in China, it is compulsory for every foreign student to buy medical insurance and accident injury insurance throughout their entire planned period of study. You are free to purchase either in your own country or in China. Purchasing the Comprehensive Insurance Plan of Foreign Students provided by Ping An insurance company on the day of registration is recommended by the Chinese Ministry of Education. Students who do not have valid medical insurance are not allowed to register.

 

Vaccinations
The following vaccinations and applicable frequencies are recommended for students coming to China:
Hepatitis A (within the last 10 years)
Hepatitis B (within the last 5 to 10 years)
Japanese B Encephalitis (within the last 3 years)
Tetanus (within the last 10 years)
Polio (within the last 10 years)
Typhoid (once in a lifetime)
Students 55 and older should also have a Pneumococcal vaccine

 

Quarantine Regulations
In accordance with the details for the Implementation of Regulations of the People's Republic of China Concerning Frontier Sanitation and Quarantine, people coming to China from certain countries must produce valid documents showing they have been inoculated against smallpox, cholera, or yellow fever. People from countries newly declared as infected areas must show corresponding vaccination documentation.

Those who have diseases for which Chinese laws and regulations refuse entry should leave China at once for their own country, and bear all expenses for the home journey

 

Health Examination
A health examination is required for students holding an X1 Visa for those studying in China for more than 6 months. (X2 visa holders studying for less than 6 months do not need to undergo this test).
Health Examination in Your Own Country
If you are examined in your home country, the exam must take place in a public hospital within 6 months before coming to China. The check-up form must:
• Be the same as that used in China (obtained from the Chinese Embassy)
• Contain your photo
• Bear the hospital's official stamp
• Include doctor's signature in section containing results of examination, with the original laboratory test reports attached
Health Examination in Hunan
You may also undergo the physical examination after you arrive in Hunan. Those who pass the examination, and when confirmed by the Municipal Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, will receive a Health Certificate. This is a procedure that your school will assist you with.

 

Medical Care

Chinese Government Scholarship-University Postgraduate Study Program is established by the Ministry of Education of China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) aiming to offer support in building international high level universities, and promote Chinese higher education brand. The enrollment is directly managed by a part of Chinese higher institutions. Application Procedures for Chinese Government Scholarship-University Postgraduate Study Program

   

I. A Brief Introduction of Chinese Government Scholarship Programmes
In order to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese people and people from the rest of the world, and to enhance cooperation and exchanges in the fields of education, science & technology, culture, economics and trade between China and other countries, the Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship schemes to sponsor international students and scholars to undertake studies and research in Chinese institutions of higher education.  


The Ministry of Education of P. R. China (MOE) is responsible for the provision of Chinese government scholarships, and entrusts China Scholarship Council (CSC) to administer the recruitment of international students and the routine management of Chinese Government Scholarship Programmes.  


International students under Chinese Government Scholarship Programmes will be placed in 94 Chinese institutions of higher education designated by the MOE. There are over 300 subjects in sciences, technology, agronomy, medicine, economics, law, management, education, history, liberal arts and philosophy available for international students in these institutions.  


We welcome outstanding students, scholars and teachers from all over the world to come to study or undertake research in institutions of higher education in China.  

   

The Chinese Government Scholarship Programms and Applications
1. The Chinese Government Scholarship Scheme
Established by the MOE in accordance with educational exchange agreements or MOUs reached by the Chinese government and governments of other countries or international organizations, it provides both full and partial scholarships for international students and scholars. The scheme supports students to study in China as undergraduates, postgraduates, Chinese language students, visiting scholars and senior visiting scholars. Applicants may apply for scholarship through education authorities, designated institutions or Chinese diplomatic missions in their home countries.
 


2. CHINA/UNESCO the Great Wall Fellowship Scheme
 It is a full scholarship scheme established by the MOE for candidates recommended by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Only visiting and senior visiting scholar candidates are eligible. Applicants may apply either to UNESCO headquarters or to the UNESCO national committee in the applicants` home countries.
 


3. Distinguished International Students Scholarship Scheme
It was established by the MOE to sponsor outstanding international students who have accomplished their previous studies in China and are enrolled by designated Chinese institutions as Master`s or Doctoral degree candidates in the next academic year. It includes full or partial scholarships. Applicants may apply for scholarships to the CSC through the recommendation of their Chinese hosting institutions.
 


4. HSK Winner Scholarship Scheme
It is a full scholarship scheme established by the MOE to support international students who are the winners in the HSK test (Chinese Proficiency Test) held overseas to study Chinese in China. Applicants may apply to the CSC through the HSK test organizing institutions or Chinese diplomatic missions.
 


5. Chinese Cultural Research Fellowship Scheme
This scheme was established by the MOE to sponsor overseas scholars and specialists in Chinese culture to conduct short-term research in China. Applicants may apply to the CSC directly, or through the recommendation of relevant Chinese institutions, professors or Chinese diplomatic missions in their home countries.
 


6. The short-term Scholarship Scheme for Teaching Chinese as a Second Language 
This is established by the MOE for foreign teachers who teach Chinese language as a second language to undertake short-term research and improvement in China. Applicants may apply to the CSC through Chinese diplomatic missions in their home countries.
 


Details of the Chinese Government Scholarships
1. Full scholarship: A Chinese government full scholarship covers tuition (or research) fees, Medical Insurance for International Students, basic learning materials costs, accommodation, living allowance, a one-time settlement subsidy and one inter-city travel allowance. 
2. Partial scholarship: One or some items of the full scholarship.
3. International air travel: Applicants are expected to meet their own international travel costs unless there are bilateral agreements or arrangements.

II. How to Apply Chinese Government Scholarships
1. Application Approach and Recruitment Time
The period for recruiting international student under Chinese Government Scholarship Programmes is normally from the beginning of January to the end of April. Details on application procedures are determined by the consultation between Chinese diplomatic missions and the relevant authorities in the applicants` home country. Applicants may contact the relevant authorities or Chinese diplomatic missions in their home countries for details.
 


2. Scholarship Applications 
Applicants should meet the basic qualifications prescribed in the Application Procedures, and must fill in the application forms correctly as required. They also need to provide relevant application documents including notarized photocopies of diplomas, transcripts, study plans, health certificates and recommendation letters. Application documents for scholarships must reach the CSC before the deadline as specified in the Application Procedures via their Embassies in China or Chinese diplomatic missions in the applicants` home country. Application documents which arrive after the deadline will not be accepted. Please refer to the attached Application Procedures for details.
Application documents will not be returned whether the applicants are admitted by Chinese institutions or not. Documents such as original diplomas and original Foreigner Physical Examination Form must NOT be sent as application documents.
 


3. Selection of Higher Education Institutions and Specialties
Applicants for Chinese Government Scholarships must choose their host institutions and specialties from the institutions of higher education designated by the Ministry of Education of China. Please check the Directory of Chinese Institutions Admitting International Students under the Chinese Government Scholarship Programme or the website of CSC (<
http://www.csc.edu.cn>) for details.
4. Language of Instruction
The Chinese institutions of higher education generally use Chinese as the language of instruction. Applicants with no command of Chinese are generally required to take Chinese language courses for 1-2 years before pursuing their major studies. In some institutions, some courses set for visiting, senior visiting scholars and postgraduate students can be conducted in English. Please refer to Directory of the Chinese Institutions Admitting International Students under Chinese Government Scholarship Programme for details.
 


III. Recruitment of Scholarship Students
CSC will review all the application documents received from the designated authorities to make necessary adjustments on the proposed institutions. Applications will not be processed if they are not compliant with recruitment regulations or the application documents are incomplete. Qualified applications will be forwarded to different institutions and the final decision whether to admit the applicants or not will be made by the institutions. Finalized placements, specialties and duration of studies are in principle not to be changed. If the applicant has been contacted by or admitted by an institution (listed in the Directory) prior to application, the applicant is requested to enclose relevant admission letters for the reference of the host institution.
 

   

Scholarship applicants accepted by Chinese institutions will be officially confirmed as Chinese Government Scholarship students with endorsement from the Ministry of Education of China.  


CSC will send the List of Admitted Students, Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study In China (JW201) to the relevant dispatching authorities by July 31, so as to have the documents forwarded to the students.  


IV. Visa Application and Registration in China 
1. Visa Application
Students under the Chinese Government Scholarship Programme should apply for a visa to study in China at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate-General with the original documents and one set of photocopies of the Admission Notice, Visa Application for Study In China (JW201) and Foreigner Physical Examination Form, and a valid ordinary passport.
 


Scholarship students who are going to stay in China for more than 6 months will need to apply for "X" visa, while those who will stay less than 6 months will need to apply for "F" visa. The scholarship students must enter China with the original copies of the above documents. A person coming to China with other types of passports, visas or without the original documents will not be able to register with the institution, nor will they be able to apply for residence in China.  


2. Registration
International students must arrive at and formally register in the institution at the time specified in the Admission Notice. Those who are unable to register before the specified time must ask for permission from the institution directly. Those who fail to register without the prior consent of the institution will be considered as voluntarily giving up their enrollment, and the scholarship will automatically be withdrawn. 
3. Health Verification and Residence Registration
 


Health verification:
Scholarship students who are going to stay for more than 6 months must bring their passports, Admission Notice, and the original copies of Foreigner Physical Examination Form and the Blood Test Report to the local quarantine office within the time set to have their medical examinations verified. International students whose Foreigner Physical Examination Forms do not meet the requirements will have to re-take their medical examinations. Those who refuse to re-take the medical examination or are diagnosed as suffering from diseases that are not permitted to enter China under Chinese laws and regulations will be required to leave China. The costs of the medical examination and the international traveling expenses will be borne by the international students.
 


Residence registration:
After the health verification, scholarship students must apply for residence permission from the local police authority with their passports, Admission Notice and Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
 


Transit Service
1. The Transit Service Section for Chinese Government Scholarship Students will provide free transit service for new scholarship students who have to make a stopover in Beijing between August 28th and September 18th. 
Embassies in China, the Chinese diplomatic missions concerned or individuals are requested to inform the Transit Service Section of the arrival date of the international students, as well as the numbers of flight or train one week in advance.

2. Those who arrive in Beijing before or after the above-mentioned period of time or who have to make a stopover in cities other than Beijing will have to make their own arrangements to reach their universities. The universities shall reimburse the scholarship students for the cost of the hard-berth railway tickets between the entry port and the city where the university is located according to existing regulations.  



 

How to Apply Chinese Government Scholarship

Visa Application

Chinese Government Scholarship winners should apply for a visa to study in China to the Chinese embassy or consulate-general with the original documents and photocopies of the Admission Letter, Visa Application for Study in China (JW201), Foreigner Physical Examination Form and valid ordinary passport. Those who will study in China for more than 6 months must apply for “X1” visa, and those who will study in China for less than 6 months (including 6 months) can apply for“X2”visa. Students who come to China with other types of passports, visas or without the original documents will not be able to register with institutions, nor will they be able to apply for the residence permit in China.
Visa application cost is at student’s own expense.


Transfer Service


The Transfer Service Station for Chinese Government Scholarship students in Beijing Language and Culture University will provide a transfer service to new full scholarship students who have to make a stopover in Beijing to other cities between August 25th and September 15th, 2014. Detailed services provided during the stopover are as follows:
1. Pickup service at Beijing Airport. Students are kindly requested to inform the Transfer Service Office of their arrival date and the flight number one week in advance.
2. Free accommodation on campus (twin room).
3. One-off settlement subsidy.
4. Necessary medical service during the transfer.
5. A hard-seat or hard-berth train ticket from Beijing to the city where the host institution is located.

Those who are unable to register on time must get permission from the host institution directly. Those who fail to register without the prior consent of the institution will be considered as voluntarily giving up the scholarship and the scholarship will be automatically terminated.

Health Verification and Residence Permit


Health verification: Scholarship students who are to stay in China for more than 6 months are requested to submit the original documents of their passport, Admission Letter, Foreigner Physical Examination Form and Blood Test Report to the local health quarantine office to have their physical examination reports verified. Scholarship students who do not meet the requirements of the above authority will be required to re-take the physical examination. Those who refuse to re-take the physical examination or are diagnosed with diseases that are not permitted to stay in China according to the Chinese laws and regulations will be required to leave China.
Residence Permit: Upon their arrival in China, scholarship students must apply for residence permit to the local police authority before the deadline regulated by the visa-issuing authority with their passport, Admission Letter, Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201), verified health report, and photograph that meets the image requirements of the authority.


Application for Change


Scholarship students are not permitted, in general, to change their academic programs, host universities or the duration of study. Those who need to change for acceptable reasons are required to apply to CSC via their host universities.

Tips for Chinese Government Scholarship Winners

Chinese Government Scholarship―Great Wall Program is a full scholarship established by MOE for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to sponsor students and scholars in developing countries to study and research in China.


Categories, Duration and Language of Instruction


This program supports, in general, one-year English-taught programs for general scholars and senior scholars. Scholarship recipients of Chinese-taught programs without adequate Chinese proficiency are required to get the approval from both CSC and UNESCO for one-year Chinese language study.


Scholarship Coverage


-a waiver of fee for registration, tuition, laboratory experiments, internship, and basic textbooks;
-free on-campus dormitory accommodation;
-monthly living allowance;
-one-off settlement subsidy;
-outpatient medical service and Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for International Students in China;
-one-off inter-city travel reimbursement.


Application Receiving Agency and Deadline


Applicants shall apply to the National Commission for UNESCO in their home countries between January and early April.
To be eligible, applicants must:
-be a citizen of a developing country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health;
-be under the age of 45 and have completed at least two years of undergraduate study when applying for general scholar programs;
-be a master’s degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50 when applying for senior scholar programs.


Application Procedure


a. Applicants consult the National Commission for UNESCO in their home countries for the details and requirements of Great Wall Program and submit the application as required.
b. Once recommended by the UNESCO, candidates shall contact the target university for Admission Letter.
c. Recommended candidates must finish the online application procedure at CSC Online Application System for International Students. Please go to www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or www.campuschina.org and click Application Online for International Students, complete the required information, submit the completed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship online and print a hard copy.
e. A package of complete application documents must be submitted to the National Commission for UNESCO in their home countries before the deadline. The applications must be forwarded to CSC via permanent delegation of P.R. China to UNESCO before April 30th. (Please check Application Documents for the detailed checklist.)
f. CSC does not accept any individual application other than the recommended applications from the UNESCO. Candidates with Admission Letter will be placed in the host university; those without Admission Letter should follow CSC’s placement.
Please NOTE applicants should consult the National Commission for UNESCO in their home countries for the instructions of CSC Online Application System for International Students and Agency Number.


Application Documents (in duplicate)

a. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in Chinese or English).
b. Notarized highest diploma (photocopy): Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
c. Academic transcripts: Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
d. Recommendation letters: Applicants for senior scholars must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors.
e. Applicants for music studies are requested to submit a CD of their own works. Applicants for fine arts programs must submit a CD of their own works which include two sketches, two color paintings and two other works.
f. A Research Proposal in Chinese or English with a minimum of 500 words.
g. Applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy should be kept by the applicant. The form designed by the Chinese quarantine authority can be downloaded from http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org). The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.
h. Applicants with Admission Letter from designated universities should enclose the letter in the application package.
i. Applicants with valid HSK Certificate should enclose it in the application package.
NOTE: The above documents should be bound on top left corner (in duplicate) following the above order. No application documents will be returned.


Approval and notification


a. Recommended application documents will be reviewed by CSC. The applications will be regarded as invalid if the application documents fail to meet the requirements or the applicants are ineligible.
b. Qualified applications will be forwarded to universities for recruitment. CSC reserves the right to make necessary adjustments on the university options, specialties, program categories and duration of study. CSC will forward their nominations to universities for recruitment approval. The application enclosed with Admission Letter will be forwarded directly to the host university which granted the Letter.
c. Scholarship applicants accepted by Chinese universities will be officially awarded the Chinese Government Scholarship with the approval from CSC. Each applicant can only be granted one scholarship program.
d. CSC will send, before July 31st, the List of Scholarship Winners, Admission Letter and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) to the permanent delegation of P.R. China to UNESCO, who will forward the documents to the scholarship winners.
e. Students are not permitted, in general, to apply to change their specialties, host universities or the duration of study as specified in the Admission Letter once they agree to accept the scholarship.
f. If applicants fail to register before the deadline for registration, their scholarship will not be reserved.
